We kept telling you to go over there and touch it during a pitstop!

Sweet! I'd love to see it.

When I went off and looked to my right to see when I could reenter the track, I was thoroughly suprised to see you off as well and still giving it gas to pass me. I was certain you were going to take out 3-4 of those cones!!!

Gave me a good laugh. Thanks for the racing, that was a lot of fun!

An idea.

Would it help driving at night if some kind of reflectors were used to mark parts of the corners? I didn't drive, but am thinking that reflectors like the ones glued on the street might help the drivers at night to see braking points, turn ins and the apex of a corner.

They could be put on the edge of the track on on the curbing. On blind curves with elevation, cheap driveway reflectors on plastic poles might work.

Watch the video, they had cones with reflective tape.

Honestly - they should have had a few more (I'd do entry/apex/exit, and maybe the start of every curbing section).

Chin always has the next event after the 13 hour Headlight Brigade race at VIR. the reflectors on the inside of the course are usually still in place.

money makes the world go around ya'll. 8)

truth be told, if we had run the Rockingham event we would have had the same level of night driving experience the race winner and 4 or 5 of the other teams had coming into this event. seat time seat time seat time.

Having the starting of the curbing at South Bend marked with a reflector certainly wouldn't have sucked. I don't recall if the braking zone markers were reflective, but i thought they were pretty easy to see. The cones with the reflective tape were really helpful finding my way around South course for the first time ever. The dark made learning Bitch, well.....a real bitch!

Cones get hit and moved. I'm sure Ryan would manage to hit a "few."

Glued down highway reflectors, many more than the cones they used, would make it better and safer. Driveway reflectors would have to be out of the "line of fire" so they wouldn't be hit. Still, they could be useful reference points.

A night race shouldn't be a test of who can see the best at night.

Sure it is. It's on you to have enough lights on your car to do the job. It's on you to not tear those lights up. It's on you to test those lights. It's on you to understand what you can and can't see and adjust your driving accordingly. It's on you to understand that when you see brake lights "twist" in a strange place you *might* want to close your eyes because you're fixing to get blinded by the now-spinning car in front of you.

All that most certainly IS part of endurance racing. This is why at the 13 you see a lot of cars don't install their aux lights until the last pit stop before dark...that way they don't get torn up earlier.

I'm not saying they couldn't do a little more to help mark the corners, but if I were you I would work on all those other things just in case they don't get to that for you. :)

Not in the Chump Car series. Rules state 4 lights maximum with no wattage higher than 55W. If it were up to *me* I'd have enough lights on our car that you could follow behind me and not need any on your own car.

Oh wow. That's ludicrous. Walter is right, then, they gotta provide you more to go on. That's just crazy.
