I have mixed feelings about the Pro vs. Open thing. I generally feel that the logical thing is to do away with it due to point #1 that Aaron mentions above. But at the same time it would be nice to keep people like Aaron, Matt and Kevin out of Open class for poor slobs like myself.
You see these guys on TV (F1, WRC, NASCAR, whatever) that are in 2nd place and then the 1st place guy has something happen in the last few laps that puts him out of the race and "2nd" goes on for the "Win". You have to say to your self... "Does he feel good even if he inherited the win?". I am thinking that even if it is a bit of a hollow victory, it still probably feels pretty good.
There are probably other drivers in our club that would do great in STS and battle at the top if they decided to build an STS car. Should I feel cheated that they are not currently in STS? If the current top STS drivers decided to move or quit competing locally, would any "wins" by myself be tainted? Should those that are competative nationally not play locally? should I move to a less competative class? I don't know the answer to these questions. I guess I should just say... Stay in Pro you guys.
It is going to be another season for me in the 3 HP Civic, so unless I am in STS all by myself it is going to be another year at the back of the pack working on improving my skills vs taking home trophies.
