As does the space shuttle. Lincoln is an alternate shuttle landing site.

Best. Autocross. Site. Ever.

And the weather sucks, too. Looks like a bunch of classes have been shaken up by rain today, and it must be on and off downpours. *sigh*

Discovery is supposed to land tomorrow. Keep an eye out :)

From today's west course results, I see that Eric Peterson is 5th in AS, Karl and Chuck a bit farther down in the rankings, but each has a clean time on record.

Chris Peterson is 2nd in ASL, Donna Frank is 4th in ASL.

On the east course, both Jim Feinberg (2nd) and David Spratte (7th) are in the DS trophies after 1 day.

Good luck to everybody tomorrow!

It was our Solstice that finished 3rd in AS, Alan was my codriver. Both of my first two runs each day were dirty, so I slowed way down to get clean runs in the books.
Donna had the quickest ASL time on Fri, but it was too little too late after digging herself a 2 sec hole on thurs., where she also started with 2 dirty runs.
The site was incredible! So much grip! The OPR buildup was also unbelievable, up to 3/8" thick. Spent a lot of time scraping tires. Bought a heat gun after the pro finale, but then the starter rope broke on the generator. Spent most of wed trying to repair it, required almost complete disassembly of the entire unit. After we reassembled it, it started and ran for a few minutes then quit, I think we pinched a fuel hose putting it back together. No way was I going to take it all apart again, so used the nature's way of putting the tires in the sun to soften the buildup and scraped it off. Slower and harder that way, spent about 2 hours scraping between AS and ASL and again after ASL. Sure wish we could have had a second set of tires or a day laborer to do the scraping, my arms and hands are very sore.
The Museum of American Speed visit was worth the trip alone! We could have spent a week there!

DS results changed with Feinberg/Spratte no longer in the trophies due to a protest.
