Has any one run with a Blue Ridge Region SCCA event? They have one scheduled for Sunday in Lynchburg, VA. They have over 6 ES competitors. I want to see if it is worth the drive.

Thanks for any input.

I ran one in Danville about a year ago, but none since. I'll check with Bryan, but I think that's their small site, and probably wouldn't be worth the 3-4 hour drive. What event date are you looking at? - AB

This Sunday. The ES class will have 7 drivers with the addition of Feinberg and myself. Tis better to compete than to test :)

That is if they can clear any snow they got.

I just talked with Bryan. The Lynchburg site is very small and on a hill. Bryan isn't going to drive the 30 mins from Blacksburg to run it, and he said do not waste your time coming up there. You will surely be pissed you did. ;) - AB

I am not sure where in Lynchburg Bryan has run. But the BRR-SCCA regions lot was a nice size. It was larger than the RBC lot, had elevation changes and some nice camber changes.

I kind of felt bad for the club. They were expecting 70 participants and had over 130 drivers show up on Sunday morning. To their credit, everyone got 4 runs. was the course designer's first course. And it showed. He did accept some input and made some changes. We really did not want to push our luck with him and totally piss him off. He feel victim to "I need to use every cone available".

I went seeking some competition. And boy did we get it. Jim F took FTP and was the second fastest raw time, behind the McGeorge CSP Sypder. Three of the top five fastest raw time were ES cars and 5 of the top 10 raw times were ES cars. That is RAW time and not PAX. That includes Miatas and MR2s. Six ot the top 10 PAX times were ES cars.

BBR had a little printer that printed out your run time, cones, standing in class and pax value. I saw mine go from eighth to first to third. It was a wild class to compete in. The top three ES cars covered by 4/10ths of second and Jim nipping the second palce finisher by about 14/1000ths of a second.

This was our first dry event on the new S04 Hoosiers. We got the car dialed in nicely for steady state. Actually lowered the pressures by 4 pounds. Now we need to dial in better transistion response. The car did not feel nimble in the quick offsets. But it rocked out of the turns.

Overall BRR did a nice job. I have never seen that many spectators at an AX. At times, it seemed that there were a couple hundred people sitting or standing on the hillside watching the action.

The time slip printer was a nice touch.

First time for me in Lynchburg and considering the turn out, BRR did a fantastic job. The course really made it bad on the novices, a real sea of cones effect! I was real pleased that my little FSP Wrabbit made it into the top ten raw times, first time that has happened. Isn't it great to start the year out with new tires. The weather was perfect and the new auto-x year is under way. WooHoo!

So now Jim Diesel is showing the folks how it's done in a MR2. You go boy! All those years of experience racing your stroller has paid off.

I've been predicting Jim F. to decimate Pro class this year. And any time he wants to co-drive my car it's available, as long as I get to ride along & learn something.

I haven't been "decimated" before, can't wait to see what that's like :-)

Man, where is that emoticon about going off the deep end? I think we need to get a grip here. About the only thing I've ever decimated while racing is my bank account!!! And I don't see that trend changing any time soon...

I'm not going to be running PRO this year. I may not even run the same class all year. Until I have my own auto-x car again, there is no telling where I may wind up.

I thought the BRR guys put on a good event despite the few problems. The course was excruciatingly tight in a couple of spots but very fun and challenging overall. Considering the issues they had with overlap and the number of people that showed up, they managed to get everybody their runs and things went relatively smoothly.

I must admit it was strange watching the new owner of my old Miata driving around the course. He did a good job and beat the other 2 turbo Miatas in the class. He only got beat by a killer 10000hp 'vette that looked like a full size race car on a go-kart track. I'm sure that guy wasn't all that happy with the course design that day. It was kind of a bummer not to be diriving my old car to give him a run for his money but 'dem is the breaks...

I got the impression that you guys were co-driving the MR2 locally & nationally all year. I just figured you were going to kick our butts since you'd have a great ES car under yours - and the mad/dope skilz to go with it.
