So, I am trying ot figure out where my car needs to be when I have no nov group to run.

according to this, it looks like the only thing my stock 99 miata can run is c stock. I remember being told by a few that i can run mine in tire, but I dont see a tire class listed (granted what I am referencing is not the end all be all rule book)

http://cms.scca.com/documents/Solo_Rules/solo_categories.pdf

Also, while registering for a non thscc event, I didnt see the tire class, is tire a non scca class or something?

so confused :?

If I am not mistaken a stock 99 Miata is C Stock. If you run in TIR you would run with a CS pax

So, what would be the differnece between CS and Tire (with the CS pax time)? other than the obvious tire allowance? Is it just a way of allowing someone to compete against more people?

Also, is TIR a normal scca catagory?

I don't know how Triad classes cars, but here's from our site:

http://thscc.com/autocross/info/classcat.html

As a newb, I view TIR class as "Stock class on a budget" with the same limits as the Open Stock class PLUS street tires with wear rating above 140. Probably a good place for people who have outlasted NOV but (a) want more experience or (b) don't want to pay up for wheels and tires to compete in Open class.

Personally, once I'm done with NOV class I will move to TIR before going to Open Stock class.

$0.02,

Edit: Just registered for the 8/9 Danville event, and you can select to run in TIR instead of Open class...

Seat time seat time seat time...the more you get, the better you get, right? Good luck!

Besides, it could be worse--you could be at work.

There are generally more competitors in TIR than open class. You compete on PAX times and we all know PAX sucks. (Just kidding, don't want to start another flaming thread. ) There are classes that only allow Street tires, but that allow suspension/induction mods but straight tire class allows you to destroy your street tires quickly and less expensively than destroying your race tires

I may be wrong, but I don't think TIR is a SCCA category

If this is true, that might explain why I didnt see any Tire classes listed for them. they are the NC region scca. as opposed to us which we just follow the scca rule book.

Our club has Tire class for exactly the reasons Steven said. Down at NCR you’ll be CS. You entered correctly. They also have a novice class. You just need to tell then at registration that you want to run Novice. You’ll be paxed on CS.
