Meghan just asked me what "oh fuck" means.

She was bound to hear it sometime, it might as well be from an autocross video rather than me...

Tell her it's an endearing term.

Well I'm glad some people liked the course, apparently we made it too tight in spots to drive a Corvette though at speed without mowing cones. I really don't even know where I hit the 10 cones I did yesterday, didn't feel or hear any of them and not much of any cone marks on the car, must have blown them down with the exhaust.

It really sucks that my "safety" run was 3.4 seconds slower than my "at speed" run, didn't expect that. *sigh* Oh well, at least the weather was great and I thought the sweeper kicked ass. BTW, regardless of what the course map says, the course was a fully collaborative effort.

Also, my first run DNF was simply a matter of entering the first diagonal slalom on the runway way too hot. I couldn't quite get over enough to knock that middle cone down. :(

Les, sorry you had so much trouble with the course, but it's not like somebody dragged you there :)

Maybe next time the people in the bus can keep track of where people dnf so we know for next time.

We were too busy with the cone carnage being called in.

Very fun event for me and the best sweeper there I've seen. Did anyone else think the blacktop section was grippier than normal?

Nice job Dustin: 3rd place raw time on street tires.

No kidding. Raw sheets was a juggling act, I can't imagine trying to also keep track of where people dnf'd.

Yes, my co-driver (Scott) mentioned that also. We were expecting strange things to happen there but were pleasantly surprised by the grip level and lack of drama. The spot where grip was at a premium for me was the braking zone between the 4-cone 'chute' and first diagonal slalom on the main runway - the combination of right/left steering input and fairly hard braking made for some major rotation - if done right, it set up perfectly for entry into the slalom.

It was WAY grippier than the weekend before at the Triad event. Temperature must have a lot to do with it (it was ridiculously hot then).

That could be because we didn't really bother with any cones there.

Great event. I loved the course, four clean runs and knocked off 2 seconds on my last run for a 63.5-ish. I said to myself in the morning, "If I get a 63, no matter where I place I'll be happy." I was happy, and I must admit where I placed was rather nice. Kept the season points alive. Now I just need to do the same thing at the last three events too... :)

A side note: This was the first event ever that I've actually bothered to take out the spare tire and stuff. I just couldn't believe how much that thing weighed. Still, I was surprised that I could actually feel the difference -- not in acceleration, obviously I'm not that sensitive, but in rotational inertia.

Do it every time from now on. Us stock class folks only have so much we can do - every little bit helps.
