It is a very similar system to what was used last year by CCR to determine the Club Cup. The lot in Greensboro is just much better than the Continental Tire lot was IMHO.

I'm still in even though Weather.com is saying a 40% chance of rain until 1200 when it changes to a 40% chance of thunderstorms. Sunday, Rain all day.

Sounds like a beautiful weekend for an autocross!!!

What forecast are you looking at? Weather.com and Wunderground are both saying Sunday shouldn't be bad.

They can use any points system they want for the NCAC club cup and it won't matter if we don't participate. I just don't understand why THSCC'ers can't motivate themselves to go.

Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow that's coming to support the club.

To play a strict numbers game, sending a handful of drivers there in low pax rides would get it done. Due to the points calculation method, the fewer drivers that go, the better.

I agree Triad has a number of really good drivers, and it is certainly going to be a challenge. But it's not a slam-dunk, IMO, and as North Carolina's Premier Motorsports Organization, I say we need to give it 100%, show up and put up a fight, and give it our best. The fact that there will be 4-5 clubs worth of good drivers can only shake things up, as will the potential conditions. We also have a lot of great drivers, and with our talent a little luck, we CAN get the cup back to eastern NC.

That's not how I read it at all. While having a given club's "top 10%" drivers may be all that it takes to win the cup for a club, there's no downside of having the other 90% either

From Triad's forums.... wrote:
We will take the club with the lowest NCAC entrants , take 80% of
their total entrants , and this will be the number we use to pull from
each of the remaining clubs.
We will then take that number and use the top Pax finishers for each
club and combine their Pax times for the Clubs total. Lowest combined
Pax time wins.
EX: Club "B" brings 10 members and is the lowest participating club,
we will use 80% or 8 members. We will then take the Top 8 Pax
Finishers from each club and combine their times for that clubs
NCAC score.

Nowhere does more club participation equate to a disadvantage.

Soooooo, everybody, come out to play, or hell, just cheer the rest of us on! If you're not coming to "win the cup", come for the reasons we all started this sport, to have some fun! I'm bringing 2 canopies just in case, and free club stickers for the THSCC'ers who make the trip.

I'll try to be there early tomorrow, and supposedly there will be group parking areas over to the "left" as you enter the site area. I'll try to reserve enough area for a bunch of THSCCers and we can make a tent city as done in previous years. If you get there before me, feel free to do the same. One way or another, we WILL have a good time this weekend!

Anybody else have a FWD with an open seat this weekend? There's a t-shirt in it for ya :-)

the only way big numbers would hurt is if you happen to be the club with the lowest number of entrants...then you've diluted your own pool.

so wes is right in a way...bringing a lot of folks can never help, but it "could" hurt. why they don't just follow the lead of the olympics i don't know. gold, silver, bronze...count'm up at the end...the country with the most points wins. it's fair to everyone, individuals are rewarded for their efforts, encourages participation, etc.

the hilarious thing would be for a club to send one driver that they know will get top pax...that club would win

Her car has no tires right now (well, its got runflats). Me in a foreign (to me) STX mini on runlfats wouldn't be helpful, plus I've got tickets to watch my blue devils beat state today :)

I WILL be there next year, I promise. I had planned on being there this year but the stars aligned against me.

Those who didn't go missed out on a fun course today. It started off slippery but no rain falling. The course was fast (once it dried out) and flowing but rewarded patience in parts.

Here are the positions as I remember them. I'm sure I will forget somebody.

Todd Breakey 5th in STS. 2nd through 6th are seperated by less than a second.
Aaron Buckley 1st in SS
Dustin Fredrickson 1st in STU
Malia Fredrickson 1st in STUL (but not able to be there tomorrow)
Gwen Baake 1st in HSL
Stephen Westerfield 1st in FS
Mike Miller 1st in CS
David Spratte 1st in DS
Keith Quistorff 3rd in DS (I think that's where he ended up)
Les Davis 1st in SSM (I think)
Carlton Whitehead 1st in Tire
Judy Westerfield 2nd in Tire
I know Lee Williams and Marcus McRae were running fast but I didn't see where he ended up today.
I would tell you that Jim Feinberg is leading ES, but since I heard he is playing for the other team, we'll leave that one out.

Can't wait for tomorrow's course. It's being designed by Jinx Jordan.

I'm sure I missed someone, my apologies. Please make corrections and additions as needed.

Sorry I couldn't make it back out there again today to help support the team. Between a corded rear tire with no way to get it replaced in time and no babysitting options coming through for me for today, I'm stuck at home.

Good luck to the rest of you THSCC'ers!

Big thanks to all who made it out today!

THSCC gave it a go, and despite the best efforts of all of the dozen or so of us that showed, we didn't manage to take the cup. Triad holds it for another year. We did take a number of 1st place class trophies, however, which will be custom-printed event shirts personalized with name, etc... Pretty cool idea, IMO.

It's unfortunate that our participation was as low as it was. We barely eeked out HSCC and NCR in participation numbers, and besides Triad, the bulk of our membership is closer than most clubs to this venue. Not sure what's going on there, but that's a topic for another thread at another time.

Those of you who used the gloomy weather reports as the "last straw" to skip out missed out on a great weekend. It ended up being great weather for all but the first rungroup on Saturday which wasn't raining but was a bit wet.

Courses both days made good use of the space - the parking lot was much bigger than I remembered it from a few years back and I thought grip levels were very good. In all, it was a great weekend racing!

Sorry I couldn't make it, but at least I got to see a good football game  (check the record, I posted that well before the game that we would win :))

I will definitely be there next year though, and hopefully another year of practice will render me good enough to actually contribute to the club cup.

Unfortunately Donna had to work, maybe next time it won't be the same weekend as her fall inventory. I didn't want to come alone, without anyone to keep our dog I would have had to drive back and forth Sat evening/Sun AM and miss all the Sat eve festivities which sounded like the best part of the event.
Probably a good thing I didn't go tho Sat PM I noticed a water leak in the upstairs bathroom toilet supply line. I shut off the water to that bathroom and fixed it today. One truism about water leaks, they never get better, only worse the longer they leak. :(
