I'm gonna run my 07 Sti tomorrow at Greenville and I'm not exactly sure what class I should run. I believe I'm supposed to be in SM with the option of running TIR but I wasn't sure. I wanted to run STU or BSP but I think my mods bump me out.

3" catless TBE
reflashed ECU
245/50/17 RE11 tires
Perrin Intake

I plan to have the car ready for STU next season with an STU boost map and catted Downpipe.

Looking on this page I believe you can run STU.
THSCC refers to this page for class mods.

OK, based on that, it looks like I can run BSP. I can't run STU due to my reflash which alters stock boost levels. Still not sure about the catless exhaust.

The SCCA rulebook is available for download on scca.com. For free. I'm just sayin'.

Once you've reflashed the map and have a catless setup, you're automatically in BSP. No Street Touring, you've gone way beyond that with both of those modifications. - AB

Aaron can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that anytime you alter the boost settings through the computer - catless or not - that disqualifies you from STU.

I think an STI is still a pretty stout BSP car though, so no worries there.

Correct. Once you alter fuel maps, you qualify for BSP, for it's too hard to tell if boost is altered if any fuel changes are done. - AB

I was gonna run BSP but there were no other competitors so I moved up to SM. I gave them a scare with the wet morning runs but they crushed me in the afternoon.

I really liked how the car drove though. A few handling tweeks should improve the moderate push I was getting.

The debate now is whether I should detune the car for STU or run BSP(TIR).

I'm running boost w/shop tuning and exhaust changes in my 04 STi. I could not imagine de-tuning it from where it is now to run STU! If I were to de-tune I'd consider going to AS. Others have shown that the STi can be competitive there (if it's still classed there in stock form).

The '05+ cars have proven to do better due to the 275 tires that can be mounted on them. I would still think that an '04 could do fine considering the grip level of most of the THSCC sites. - AB

Well, you *can* run 275's on an '04, but you'll get occasional rub and the rub will "pull" the inner lip of your fender outward occasionally and you'll have to roll it back to the normal spot. I'm not sure that's 100% legal nationally, but it's not the kind of thing anyone in Tar Heel is going to complain about, I assure you.

Should you choose to run 275's on an '04 I'm not sure there's much difference between it and an '05. I think the '04 and '05 are better than the '06 and '07 for AS by a *little*, though.
