Ok, so the facts as I understand them are:
- THSCC will recognize the class as long as the SCCA does
- this means that we will have this class for at least a couple years
- the PAX for STS2 will be .810, but could be changed (yearly?)

These facts in hand, who besides Malia and I will likely play in STS2?

All paxs are recalculated yearly. The current pax for the two new classes is a best guess, and I'd assume that it could change as cars start to run the classes nationally???

It's tempting. But I just got the car to spec for ES. If not his year, then next.

Does this mean I won't get to run against you in H-stock anymore? :)

Looks to be the case - though I still don't know about the first event. I just couldn't handle the choice of tires for a 13x5 rim anymore. Besides, STS2 also allows me to put that Si engine and tranny in that's been laying in my garage waiting for a rebuild. 108 HP! :woo:

STS doesn't normally allow for engine/drivetrain swaps. Is that something in update/backdate for STS that's allowable? I didn't know you could do that in STS.

(Assuming STS rules follow to STS2)

Ok, need some rules clarification here.

Last I checked, the CRX is still only on one line of the SP Appendix, though as it hasn't historically been eligible for STS, this may be why. Looking closely, it now appears that the 88-91 Civic was moved to different "lines" in the appendix, which seems to make the engine swap for the CRX-like civic illegal (i.e. no frankencivics anymore?)

However, the CRX is still only listed on one line (not broken into "std" and "Si" like the civic. If the civic no longer allows the DX-Si conversion in STS, I suspect this will trickle down to STS2 for the CRX as well eventually. Time to get some clarification on this.

Any info anybody has for FrankenCivic rulings and how this might apply for putting Si parts in a CRX (DX) is appreciated!

(edit: evidently there isn't a rules forum anymore, so I'll ask here)

All update/backdate has been eliminated from the STS rules for '04. Thus, no Si into DX engine swaps, etc. If you do the full conversion that would make a DX into and Si, it's ok, but the sunroof cut part of the conversion usually is the kicker.

My guess is that all of these rules will apply for STS2. - AB

Yes, I assume whatever applies to STS will eventually apply to STS2. I've got no problem in doing a full conversion to Si trim - but as you state, there's the sunroof issue. So how would this be handled? Would I be required to put a full, motorized Si sunroof in my DX to make the conversion to the Si Stock or ST-- legal? And what about other small non-performance differences like the seats? (for Stock class only, as STS does allow seat changes)

Thanks!
Dustin (who may be in HS again this year)

Seats are a gray area, for you can put any seat you want into the front of an STS legal as long as they weigh a minimum of 15 lbs without mounting hardware. In a case of the CRX, there's no back seat to bring into compliance.

As far as bringing it to stock compliance, you need to do everything. That means wiring harnesses, sunroof, brakes, bumpers, interior and exterior trim (including seats, power mirrors, door trim, badges, etc.). Basically anything that came on the stock Si that was not optional has to be there, and it has to be year specific. I know that the '88 CRX Si is lighter than the '91 CRX Si, thus it must have all of the correct parts for that particular year. Honestly, it's easier to either buy an Si and have a spare engine/tranny, do the swap and run Street Mod, or stay in HS. - AB
