This is just a quick personal thanks to all the chairs VPs et al that made today possible. I had a great time and am looking forward to the next event.
I tried to say thanks in person but when i bailed y'all were running so didn't wast to interrupt. I had to get back to Chapel Hill to watch UNC kick OK's rear end!!!!
Thanks especially to Gwen who rocks as an instructor and as a person!!
My fastest time was with her riding with me giving me great guidance through the course. :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

I had a great time as well! Getting rained on all day Friday, and most of Saturday, was a bit of a bummer, but all in all I think this was a great way to kick off the new year.

Chris and I have some work to do. I managed a top ten raw/top ten PAX result, and didn't even trophy in A Stock! Congrats to Jadrice and Keith for some great driving to take 1-2 in AS. I'm especially happy that Keith is enjoying his new ride and likes the setup. It's nice to get to an event and not have to chase a bunch of settings!

Off to go drive around a little bit. I'm hoping it was something to do with the trailer, but I think I may have knocked the car out of alignment at some point this weekend.

My thanks as well to the event chairs, officers and all who helped make today a fine event. Like Colin, I made a hasty exit at the end of the event to go see my Tarheels win over the Sooners, so I apologize for not sticking around to help pack up.

The first third of the course was an exercise in self-discipline (especially for those of us driving "full figured" cars), the rest was pure Laurinburg flog. The perpetual lane change from left to right at the far end of the runway was a particularly interesting element. While I had nothing today for the Westerfield brothers or Mr. Wright, at least I had the satisfaction of edging out that Jim Dandy in the black Cadillac. :)

<EDIT> Whoops.. I didn't know that MD had a mid 82 run. I'm not sure he knew either. Well,there's another reason to stick around for the trophy ceremony, you don't say as many dumb things on the forum.
</EDIT>

I have been anxiously awaiting the posting of the results to see where I ended up in Raw and Pax and where I would have ended up had I not barely nipped the cone on my 71.1 run. The course was fun overall and made you look ahead and exercise patience in a couple places. I am already going through my setup and deciding what needs slight tweaks to make the car even better. Thanks a ton Karl for the setup tips to get the car very close to spot on.

Edit: I cannot forget to thank Bernie and Gwen for providing me with about a gallon of gasoline to stop my car from fuel starving and saving me from changing tires to run to the nearest gas station. It was very much appreciated.

WOW, couldn't have asked for better weather in late March.

Tough course but was still pretty damn fun. I am SUPER rusty after not autoxing for almost a year. Top 20 Pax and Top 25 Raw in a talented field makes me happy.

Thanks to everyone involved.

Not sure if you were going to change tires due to long driving distance to get gas, but that shouldn't be necessary if you go to the closest gas station. The closest I'm aware of is a Shell station located 2 miles from the airport entrance we use. It's just past and across the street from Hardee's on N. Patterson St. in north Maxton. I've had to hit that place a couple times in the past when running low on gas at an event.

Thanks to all I had a great time, but I am cleary rusty.. or at least I hope I am. The Del Sol seems capable at times, I however did not. Also sorry for all the cones and the couple workers I made scatter on my last run in the section before the sweaper.... :oops: .

I hope too make a few more events this year with the goal of improving each event. I think I was over driving the car hence all the spins and slides.
