We have a new member in the club named Alex Haynes. We went to lunch today to discuss options for cars since Alex hasn’t pulled the trigger on a car yet and is interested in co-driving with folks to get an understanding of different cars from HP, FWD, RWD, AWD and so on.

Alex is not on the forums yet, so I wanted to go ahead and get this thread started for him while he signs up to post on the forums. Alex is going to drive my car in the first event, but putting him in the mustang w/ r-comps is probably not the best way to start out from a rookie standpoint.

Is anyone out there interested in letting Alex co-drive w/ you? I’m sure he’ll more than happy to help w/ expenses.

I've never been shy about sharing the Miata so let me know if if he's interested in trying a 12 year old 100 HP (+/-10) CSP.

I wonder how long the tires would last if there weren't two or three drivers every event?

I'm sure Alex will take you up on the offer. I think right now he's only wants to try a different car per event until he has a feel for what he want's to buy. I don't think Alex is looking for a long term co-drive for the year, just wants to sample different cars before he buys.

Thanks Colin!!

No problem. I was referring to myself, my wife, my son and/or his girlfriend, various friends and so on. I wasn't referring to letting Alex codrive. Like I said, I'm not possessive about the car. Slightly obsessive maybe.

Does Alex have a car currently? I would suggest he bring that out and learn a bit before trying to score co-drives from club members. Until I can feel out someone for the driving abilities, I would be less than apt to hand over my keys to them. Maybe I'm crazy. :? - AB

No, he doesn't have a car, only a Jeep Grand Cherokee, hence the reason for the post. My thought was he could sample cars and get input from the owners on cost, weak points, fun factor and so on. I don't see Alex as someone who's going to get crazy w/ a car (yet). Very respectful of someone elses toys...

I think a few ride alongs at an event will be much easier to come by. - AB

I can appreciate that and I'm sure Alex will too. If it comes down to just ride alongs, that's better than nothing. He can still get a feel for the car and see what does and doesn't fit/appeal car wise. Just looking out for a newbie....
