Of course, your teams plays its basketball games in an INDOOR STADIUM, which is pretty convenient on cold days. I wish my Tarheels had thought of that

As Karl noted, you don't have to hit many, just a couple together in the wrong spot. And have a little sympathy -- as fast as Karl's S2000 can get you INTO a complicated course element, sometimes it's all just a blur of orange.

Alex - Here's a tip - the paint on the passenger side door is much more durable than the bumper's paint :o

*Made by your tax dollars. I didn't do it today but I usually do color guard when NROTC is presenting. I had the Marine Corps ensign the last couple of games we did. Brice, did you end up going?

It was an awesome game and I'm glad I didn't spend the whole day driving to VA and back. I had so much fun for my $25 at the PCA event on Saturday that I don't feel like I missed out. For those who went...how was it?

There weren't too many entries, and we got 8 runs each, plus 4 free fun runs. That justified the 4 hour round-trip in my book :)

With two heats and the fun runs, we were done and the course picked up before 5, the sun was just about to set.

The s2000 is quite a different beast from a Miata, and I am slowly getting more comfortable with it. Going through slaloms and offsets it it was such a blast!

Following Art's advice, I tried to hit all the cones with the side of the car ;) Actually, didn't hit that many, the biggest challenge was the cold pavement and tires. I think I got best (still not very good) traction during the fun runs.

I go to every game (and did as an undergrad too, except St. John's 2000; which we lost, I still take some blame for that  ). When I graduated, I thought it'd be a long time til I'd be able to go to another game in Cameron, let alone below the rail. Now that I'm able to get in again (grad student spouse, I user my wife's ticket card while she ushers), I'm taking full advnatage of the privelege. You'll find me in the front row of the grad section, right by where the opposing team comes out; usually in my Grant Hill jersey.

Yep! There aren't a lot of street cars - stock or otherwise - that slalom like an S2000. Transitional elements are where these cars are at their best.

Is it easier to control with the new alignment?

Only Eric's 2000 MR2 Spyder slalomed as well as the s2000 in my book. - AB

I suspect the MINI is more than likely the best transitioning FWDer.

Maybe an ITR in DS.

I was blown away by the improvement in handling (as I should have, given that not a single wheel was pointing "straight" on the car last Sunday).

I took the slaloms faster and faster each run and did not get close to the limit a single time, even in a decreasing slalom. All the cones I hit were the inside cones in the sweepers, passenger side. Must be the little bit extra width compared to the old car.

A few times I would fully expect to miss an element just to find out that I sailed right through. I am so in love with the new toy!

Because it just can't be said often enough, he should have NEVER gotten rid of that car. (love you, honey!!!)

Just to clarify, the CSP Spyder transitions better than any car mentioned. Not a fair comparison, really, but it is better. :)

Well, it was. It remains to be seen if it can be made that good again.

This is something I've struggled with for the past two years. Often, I can just barrel through an element full throttle. Once I got used to that, though, I think I started to get overconfident - "this car can do ANYTHING!!!1!11" - and I wonder if that's why I'm hitting so many cones this year. It's a confidence inspiring car, but it's not invincible.

Anyway, I'm glad you're enjoying it!

Heh, knowing that my main challenge is the LACK of confidence out on course, not an overabundance thereof, maybe this is just what I need :)
