If I'm lucky I might get to do some CSP stuff if Donnie's Spyder gets finished. I've heard they're trying to stuff a 350 in it. I'm not sure if it's legal or not, but certainly nobody would likely notice if it had a V8 :-) Also, I'm hoping to beg, bribe, blackmail, or whatever is necessary to co-drive a few more events with Karl. Driving a well set up S2000 (AP1 or AP@) is like doing "crack", do it just once and you can't get enough. They are such a driver's car that it's a real joy to drive. The prices on those things have dropped so much that it's easy to find a good deal.

How much driving we'll do will partly depend on whether the economy gets back on track *and* baby sitter availability.

Lincoln sounds like a great site and going to a new city will provide a nice change of scenery after many trips to Topeka. The good news is we still have to go through KC, so we can continue to make the annual detour to visit our favorite BBQ place - Woodyard BBQ.

(stock fit wheels go for $400!!)!

Similar kind of situation with the Mazda 3. There are no -- zero, none -- aftermarket wheels in the stock size and offset, since it's an extremely odd 17x6.5. The only way to use non-OEM wheels would be to have them custom made, and that's way out of our budget. Likewise dealer price on stock Mazda 3 wheels isn't exactly nice.

What I did was buy a set of reconditioned OEM wheels from RockAuto.com, and they were pretty inexpensive although I can't remember the exact price off the top of my head.

Those with the sedan can use the 16" size and have plenty of aftermarket wheels, I hear. The hatchback only came with the 17", however, so we're pretty well stuck. If you ever see a hatchback Mazda 3 in HS with aftermarket wheels that isn't towed in an enclosed trailer behind a rich person's motorhome, chances are it's illegal.

That much space would be nice IF the surface is in good-excellent condition, not deteriorated like Forbes or Peru. What worries me tho is Lincoln gets an average of 3" of rain in both Aug (5.4" this past year!) and Sept. so likelyhood of wet courses is high.

I'm told some of the detractors to Lincoln have said things like "it's not even as grippy as HPT", but I'm also told anyone who has said it isn't grippy is someone who wants to STAY at HPT due to some vested interest (much closer for them or AWD or whatever). Everyone else has said it isn't quite as grippy as Peru or Forbes, but it's still very grippy (much more so than Toledo, for example), and is in GREAT shape compared to Peru or Forbes (in terms of broken-ness). I heard there are a few places to work around, but they're probably flaws from building, not the start of a bad downhill spiral that will cause the site to be horrible in a few years like North Course at Forbes was.

I knew it wouldn't be long before the STS Civics started showing up.

Depending on what breaks on the Focus (new clutch = chance to install LSD), I may move to STX. Waiting for the new crop of tires to decide on 15in wheels.

Oh yeah - and building a 'new' track car:

What's the story behind the track car?

Call it 'weight reduction'

A team-effort to turn my mild track addiction to a mainline V8 injection habit -

Bernie found the car on a Corvette forum - a track car project that went nowhere and got dumped at a mechanic. Tom pitched in in exchange for a guaranteed co-drive.

*Lots* of work to do - right now the goal is running by summer 09, at an AX at least in the fall.

Yep...I'm an enabler. Granted, for the amount of money I pitched in, I'm not a very good one. It also doesn't hurt that Kendt and I can use the same slot on the seat sliders

Team CCC (Compensating Corvette CoPilots) FTW.
