One of the wonderful things in working for the electric company, you get to travel to remote locations to watch the storms come in. I'm headed down to Wilmingtom tomorrow morning for IT support at one of the local ops centers. Shouldn't be to bad and I'm hoping that Hanna is going to come in and get out quickly so I can get back home intime for Sunday dinner.

That said, what scares me is Ike. If we have to cancel the autox on the 14th, are we going to try to make it up? I need all the events I can get into in a lame attempt to regain first place since Kevin is kicking our collective butts. Just curious. I can't remember in my 7 years ever having to reschedule due to weather.

Didn't an autocross get pushed back like four years ago? (scratching head)

If I'm wrong it was probably a bike race, but I'm pretty sure it was an autocross...

IF we can't reschedule, it makes sense we use the last event as a points event.

Well, if we lose a points event, I'll only have 5 events vs. everybody else's 6 events (I missed the first two this year). So yeah, let's not drop one.

We moved a Sanford event about four years ago due to that hurricane. If we need to, we can try to get the event rescheduled. It's all up in the air right now.

We also cancelled an event at New River air station due to a storm. The site was OK but all of the roads leading in and out were flooded.

Not weather related, but in 1997 we had to relocate an event due to the runway at Tri-County airport being repaved (all of a sudden) the week before the event. We were never able to schedule another event there after that. Later that year we had to cancel the Wilson Grand Prix, because the local dairy fenced off the street that we knew as "Mello Buttercup Straight". The first we knew of that change was when Bowie happened to drive by the site the week prior to the event.

It looks like Ike is not currently projected to head towards North Carolina.

fortunately, it looks like Ike will pass us by, but they are calling for rain all week now. BTW, only 67 folks signed up so far. This is one the weakest signups I've ever seen. Guess folks are tired of dodging the cracks at L'burg.

Not that it explains all the missing people, but it's also the weekend before Nationals.

Right now the weather is calling for 30% chance of scattered storms. I am gonna keep an eye on things and make a decision on Wednesday night.

For those of us in the Pro Solo Finale we will be leaving for Topeka on the 'morrow and running on Fri-Sat, For those just running the Championship, there is a practice event @ HPT on that Sunday and course walks on Monday, so the rest will be traveling that weekend.

So I'm definately out for this weekend. It will be the first event I've missed in something like 5 years. I'm kinda bummed.

Hopefully someone can step up and handle the T&S thing this weekend. I will actually get a schedule sent out tomorrow and will include the AX VPs and Stephen in the email.
