What's the plan for setup on Saturday? I can drive out and lend a hand.

I never did get the course even nearly right yesterday. Congratulations to Emmie for beating Carl. Sorry, Carl, gotta root for the gals. Great driving, Emmie, and thanks for all the advice. I’m still trying to get the brain/foot combo to work for me. I never got that left off the top of the P correct-always a little push. Never got the entrance to the big sweeper coming on to the runway right either. There’s just something counter productive about having to brake with a low hp car, going into an uphill sweeper. Yet, I think I’d have been quicker in the long run, had I more than tapped there. From the lane changes to the finish was kind of fun. Any other gerbil powered car drivers got thoughts on this?

Also, thanks to the chairs and worker coordinators, Judie & Mo, for going the 3 heat route. Personally, I liked it a lot. I understand the reasons for doing it yesterday, but even on shorter courses with more drivers and doing 4 heats, it’s a viable setup worth considering. Hope we see more of it in the future. Great Job.

I enjoyed it too, and I still am not comfortable enough with Graham's car to know where the limit of how hard I can push it is. I was able to figure out where over the limit is  . Thanks to all the courseworkers and Lee for picking up all the cones on my first run. I kept hearing clunking noises from the back of the car all the way down the taxiway but figured we had left something in the trunk. When I went for run #2 and apologised to Lee for making him run he said not to worry, he kept hearing "cone on ASP6, another cone on ASP6, another...." We did manage to cord all 4 tires. That sweeper was reallly slick w/o rubber between you and the road.

As much as I seldom disagree with Gwen, I would not be a big fan of the three run groups in this configuration for normally subscribed events. I like our normal 4 run groups cause it gives my pea brain time to think about where I screwed up my first runs. It also seemed a bit rushed getting cars and drivers from work to run group. JMHO :-)

As always, thank you to everyone that was involved in making this event happen.

Congratulations to Matt on the 1st place finish in TIR class. How's the M3 feeling at this point?

In terms of performance, Sunday was simply a catastrophe for me personally with excessive cone hits occurring on each run besides my first run. I guess it was only natural considering the previous autocross event was completely cone-less for me. I was tired from Saturday's PDX/HPDE @ Rockingham Speedway so I am sure that had some influence. I still had plenty of fun though! :D

Regardless, here is some in-car video of Run #4.

I loved the event. Many thanks to the event chairs!

I especially enjoyed the course, for me it had a very different feel from the "usual" Laurinburg. It walked disjointed and kind of odd, but all that went away behind the wheel. It drove beautifully. I even found it easy to follow.

The three groups worked pretty well for me. One thing I liked was running 1 and working 3 gave me tons of time to change wheels and even pack up the car between them. Usually there is barely enough time for the wheel change between running 3-A and working 4. I did enjoy not having to rush in the heat.

I just wasn't on top form, and I knew it well before I made my first run. I just relaxed and gave it my best shot anyway. First run was slippery as heck, I was getting almost-straight-line wheelspin on several parts of the course in 2nd, particularly on the main runway -- I can't imagine what it would be like for someone on street tyres or not in HS. :) The other runs were fine, so slippery course and crusty first-run Hoosiers take the blame.

After the third run, still falling way short of the 83.0 it was going to take to win and keep HS mathematically alive, I finally figured I had nothing to lose and dropped 2 psi out of the fronts(*). Took 2 seconds off my time, but that was not nearly enough. PAXing 15th was not at all bad under the circumstances.

Congratulations to Emmie for clinching HS, which she did in fine style with a brilliant 4th overall PAX! :D

(*) Pyrometer testing earlier in the season showed I still needed to lower the fronts for optimal traction, but they were getting kind of close in rollover and I wasn't sure the risk was worth it. Turns out that at Laurinburg that wasn't an issue, after I did the 4th run on 2 psi lower they were just fine.

So, I finally got some in-car video. I need to work a little more on camera placement and the el cheapo Aiptek camera microphones really suck, but it gets the point accross. This was my second run which held the FTD for 1/2 the day. :(

Anything that messes up the sound of that Vette should be tossed

As much as I hate them on onboard videos, time for a musical soundtrack!
