I can vouch that Keith Strassel only took two runs. He had to leave early and the rains sent him even earlier.

Thanks Ryan. I'm guessing that one of your runs belong to another car number 6 then. I'll find out who that is.

Thanks Chris.

Keep the updates coming people. I want the results to be as correct as they can be.

Todd, Kevin Allen also only had two runs. He left shortly after heat three started.

I really enjoyed the course. I think that if it wasn't pouring down rain for my last two runs, I could have bettered my times. I'm just not used to having that many ponies under my right foot. Thanks to Todd for letting me drive the Mustang it was a blast.

Yes, only two runs for me. I didn't feel comfortable going out in the wet in Scott's brand new car (and neither did he), especially after the high number of offs in the early/dry sessions.

I'll get your car fixed Chuck, there are several things that I need to fix. For some reason Tina Casto, who hasn't raced in several years, showed up in the results along with my wife and a few others. That partially explains why several people had only 2 or 3 runs.

Rodney Wright - I'm only showing you with 3 runs but I'm sure that you took 4.

For some reason there were ALOT of people who were included on the registered list who haven't either been to an event in ages (Tina, Rebecca, my brother among others) who were credited with runs. I just didn't catch every anomoly.

I'll get the corrected results sent to the wonderful webmasters tomorrow night.

Thanks for you patience.

Yeah, I was going to ask about that. My last run was a 73.3 something. While it won't change the standings (and congrats to all the STS guys, great driving!) I was wondering where the last run went. If you find it, let me know

Any of you statistics freaks want to give us a tally of cone and DNF counts? I'm thinking this one must be an all-time record for both!

We are going to try to set up a longer course considering the past events have been somewhat truncated. In order to pull this off, we’ll need everyone to drive clean and minimize cone hits, the worker stations may be thin if enrollment doesn’t pick up.

Fortunately it worked out ok, but little did we know the event chairs wouldn't be doing their part with the course design! :P

On a lighter note, good job making use of the taxiway in a pretty safe fashion- I really enjoyed the course, and having that extra real estate was a big part of that!

So what exactly would you do have done different?

Due to the narrow width of the taxiway, every event at Sanford is either too short, too easy and fast, or too cone-intensive. Pick one. In 2007 I chaired an event that was "too fast and easy". This was challenging and cone intensive. I really don't think it's possible to put on a SAFE event there that is long and low on cone counts without being too fast, but I encourage someone to try.

Keith Q. - Did you really only take 2 runs? I saw that you corded a tire and drove the 135i (nice job BTW!!) but I wasn't sure if you drove the afternoon.

Cathy Taylor - Did you really only take 1 run?? I saw that Gordon took 4 but you are only credited with 1.

Steve Remcheck - Only credited with 3 runs, did the Dorifto Dog break or did you guys pack it in?

Kevin Allen - Did you only take 2 runs?

Rodney Wright - I'm only showing you with 3 runs but I'm sure that you took 4.

David Prichard (STS 91) - Only credited with 1 run? What happened there?

Ryan Holton and Chris Brown - Only 3 runs each?

Keith Strassel - Only 2 runs?

Ben Grubbs (NOV 31 Nissan Sentra) - Only credited with 2 runs?

Tyler Sykes (NOV 2 Honda Prelude) - Only 2 runs?

Harlan Hagge (NOV 60 Toyota Celica) - Only 3 runs?

Marcus Meltzer (NOV 39 Datsun 240z) - Only 3 runs?

Fidelis Oketch (NOV 28 Nissan 350Z) - Only 2 runs?

Yeah - thanks from me, too.

 - I knew you hated cones, but I didn't know that stretched to actual car-on-cone violence!

Woohoo! I won the fastest class (according to PAX) :P

That 2007 course wasn't easy to actually be fast on, in my opinion. It was a fast course from a miles per hour perspective sure. But to lay down a properly fast time, that was hard. It was my second favorite autocross course ever, right behind the DC Pro this year (where I sucked at the driving by the way)

As to Saturday's Sanford course...Mike, please take this as constructive criticism. That's all I intend it to be.

It seemed to me, that there were features on that layout that could have been accomplished with, say, three to four cones, instead of ten to twenty. Quite regularly we'd get a call of "plus two on AS 11." Maybe that was part of it? When I worked my shift, I was in the bus, so I didn't get to see if a lot of single cones were being hit, or if pairs (or triples) were being hit. Very hard to tell that from the bus.

The only suggestion I've got is one that I'm not particularly happy with. And that is, "maybe we shouldn't use that taxiway anymore." It's like trying to design a course on a sidewalk.

I'll give you a call tomorrow if you're around in the morning.

I thought we had come to that conclusion back in the days when we were depositing cars in the ditch on the school side of the taxiway?

I thought the Runway was awesome, taxiway not so much but I never really like things on the taxiway.

I'll agree with Karl, the last 2007 Sanford event was a killer course. I guess my mantra has always been, a course does not have to be difficult to drive, but difficult to drive FAST.

Course designer is a tough job, its right up the in terms of suckyness behind worker coordinator :)

I liked the course Mike and Rodney. I'd have really liked it if it hadn't rained on my last two runs. As far as use of the taxiway goes I saw more offs on the main runway!!!Also remember that one quarter of the folks running were novices, on a long course with that many newbies your going to get massive cone counts. Again good job guys, maybe some of the naysayers will Volunteer for event chair at Danville to show how it should be done.

I'd have to say that I thouroughly enjoyed this event! Even with my terrible times and two spins. As far as I can tell, the only cones that I picked up were on the runway, and were in the general same area (black pavement where the 'V' was). I messed up one entry on my first run, but got it back in check on the subsequent runs. I liked it! :D
