An ex-coworker of mine just bought a Mazdaspeed 3 and he was been interested in autocrossing for awhile but hasn’t tried it yet. So he has talked me into temporarily halting my self imposed exile so I can show him the ropes. I will be co-driving his car this Saturday. He will be in NOV and myself in STU. It's going to be weird driving a new car and especially after being away for more than a year.

Looking forward to seeing people in person again on Saturday!

Who are you? :)

Why not run DS? Has he modified the car already?

Besides, the PAX is easier so the class must be slower. And we know it's all about the PAX! :D

Glad to hear Richard.

With all these MS3s starting to show up who's gonna give me a ride in one? I'll have to admit I like the MS3 alot.

Well you know that the car is just not yours until you have modified it somehow. 8) I think he has installed a cold air intake or something. Other than that it is 100% stock. I am NOT going to set STU on fire. I am just looking to have fun and help the owner have a good time as well.

What is this "torque" thing you mention. I have no experience with this.

Sweet! Bob is excited you'll be out there in another MS3. Now he'll have a better benchmark than "I *almost* caught an M3"!

Nevermind: we won't be there on Saturday; too bad! Come back Sunday? Or at least get your friend to!

he could always set his benchmark at "beat the guy in the non-speed 3 with the intake and sway bar"

Hey, its the first time I think I've EVER been able to talk trash (he got me in Greenville, but I took him just BARELY at Danville).

Don't worry, I'm sure I'll be put in my place soon. . .

Richard, I wonder if you can get the borrowed car to snap-spin like you did in the Civic.

I don't know. I got closer to him at Danville than I ever had before (thanks to the chick school). I think we need to put the pressure on him!

I really hope not. :D I promised to go easy on his car. The only other time I co-drive a car was Chris Brown's GTI. I spun it as well.

while i may have very very little experience with real torque.. i will say this, machines which can lift both front wheels, with a 3k lb engine under the hood. yes, that is what a big rig engine weighs. A 8l cummins diesel road grader engine.. weighs nearly a ton.. a 11l big rig engine weighs alot more..
when you can pull both front wheels off the ground, in first second and third gear.. back to back to back.. that is freaky.. 40k lb trailer too.. 80k lbs going really fast, that is unreal. stock, a 11L detroit diesel series 60, which is a four cycle diesel turbo motor, has 1k lbs of torque at around 1.5k rpm. these have far more. while much of what i drive, possess less than 200 lbs.. a truck can bite you when bob tailing.
