Great event overall. To think that I almost canceled due to weather. I was unable to get the flow of the course until my afternoon runs due to not looking ahead. If you looked ahead, you really got payback on this design.

I can't believe I spun out in the sweeper, and through the finish. I had a spot picked out where I was sure to spin, but it never happened.

Oh yeah, if you see Marcus in your car, he's up to no good. That weenie moved my freakin seat right before I get in to go for a run.

Thanks to everyone who helped put the event on.

I thought the course was fun and challenging and featured a few places where you could really be drawn into losing a bunch of time if you didn't set yourself up for them or got greedy. Good stuff.

I think I'm going to have to start ignoring everyone's times and start just concentrating on the driving again. After totally blowing the finish on the 2nd run, I could not get any runs that I felt good about. I just felt distracted and out of sync the entire day.
Glad to see STS has become such a big party, though

If you're watching Rodney and Kevin's times, you'll just get discouraged. I don't even pay attention to them anymore.

I did a lot better at this event than I did in Greenville, and my attitude was "just don't come in dead last in class". The "DFL challenge as Chris called it". I SUCCEEDED, and it feels like such a triumph. All it takes is the right attitude, and 8/11 seems like an accomplishment

I finally was able to flat foot that first S turn near on my last 3 runs. Then again, I had a spectacular spin from lifting before in the slalom the first time, but it was a REALLY fun start to the course.

That course was freakin' awesome. Lots of fun, lots of places to screw your times. There was definitely a 49.xxx in my car, but I just couldn't get everything right in the same run. Looking forward to the rest of the season.

And don't feel bad, Kendt. I have a tendency to compare my times to the top pax times, but I just have to realize that no matter what I do, my STS RS isn't going to catch Feinberg in a DS Type R. (would've been nice to be within a second, though) So if you're feeling frustrated, just do what I do and blame it on the car. :lol:

Marcus rode along with me that first run - he must have messed with the tilt/telescoping on my wheel or something. Yeah, that's gotta be it :lol:

Awesome video -- I was able to really quickly see where the Type R can gain serious time on the ZHP. You're able to use 1st gear well after the left just after the start, in the tight slalom after the turn around and again at the ending slalom. It's amazing what a difference that makes coupled with an LSD. I did use 1st at the turn-around but short shifted to second for that tight slalom since 1st would be unusable (inside wheelspin) in the slalom. The one time I tried 1st through the left after the start, I'm pretty sure I lost time managing inside tire wheelspin.

Anyway, superb driving -- congrats! The fluidity of your movements in the car was enjoyable to watch.

Here's hoping for a Danville course that's similar to the one we ran at the end of 2006 there.

Great weather and another chance to toss the car around the cones always equals a great time. I would have had a perfect day if it wasn’t for that dang STS 99 car. Good driving Kevin. As for STS overall, wow, 11 drivers in class! Again, we had close to 10% of the entire field. Both Stephen and Michael Westerfield have decided to run STS for the rest of year to step up the level of competition. It’s great to see everyone pushing each other. I lucked up on my last run of the day and squeaked into 2nd behind Kevin. BTW, I’m starting a petition to ban AWD Subaru’s (specifically Kevin’s!)

One comment I have on that is gather yourself back and complete the run even though you’ve blown it. You at least finish the run and you have another chance to look at the course and look for places to improve. (ok, I'll get off my soapbox now)

As for the course, I liked most of it. I did not like the 180 at the top of the runway, very busy. My old brain had a hard time taking in all that information. There was a lot coming at you after exiting the turning around, going into the mini 3 cone slalom, through the 2 cone gate then setting up for the Chicago box. I found it visually hard to read, but that’s just me. Kudos to the event chairs for setting up a course that was challenging :mrgreen:

Great competition during the event, well run, no timer issues and we got 5 runs. Can’t ask for anything better :thumbsup:

Yeah, thinking back on it, I definitely should have, especially given my "interesting" first run (I ended up going around the first cone of the diagonal slalom on the way DOWN the runway, and consequently took the turnaround backwards).

I was pretty excited to be just .3 off of Eric - raw time (cones don't count when I'm trying to beat my husband!!)

Now, if we could just get the car in proper working order, perhaps we'd actually be in the hunt! :roll:

It's pretty sad when you drive the same car for a year, spend two days beating up on it and NEVER EVEN NOTICE that the sway bar is not connected due to a broken bolt. <sigh> Sorry Eric - I promise there was no intent on my part to sabotage your runs just so I could get dinner at the Angus Barn....no really.....I mean it!

I'm still getting used to how well that thing puts power down after dealing with the one-tire-fire machine that was the CRX. I'm still surprised I was able to flat-foot it in 1st all the way around the right left-hander at the start although it was very borderline if you didn't turn in just right.

I think some of that had to do with the monster-truck sized 225-50-15 Kumhos I was running on the front which are much taller than what is appropriate for the car. According to the data-logger, the car was hitting nearly 45mph in 1st! I don't think that was doing me any favors in 2nd gear through the rest of the course so it probably evened out overall.

I think holding 1st gear through that slalom after the turn-around was a bit of a mistake on my part. I used 2nd on my first run and it felt very sluggish coming out of the slalom so I tried 1st on runs 2-4. I finally got a decent rhythm on my 3rd run through there and hit the limiter very quickly coming out of that slalom.

I tried shifting to 2nd entering the slalom on my last run and it turned out to be nearly 3 tenths quicker through that section according to the data-logger. It didn't show up on the clock because I then managed to toss it away in the final slalom near the finish by getting too greedy. That last slalom was tough!

Seriously; there's definitely an error with my superfast 49.xx. Its being taken care of and the appropriate adjustments will be made. Just wanted to let the concerned members of the Ladies class know and make sure I wouldn't be hated at the next event!

Thanks for the thrill though! I left thinking I had a 56 under my belt and was pretty pleased with that. Imagine this morning when I checked the site!

Was this something you girls taught at chick school? Debbie did the same thing to me, I just managed to catch it before the race... :wink:

Your driving is coming right along. Malia, Mo and I were watching pretty closely and T/S already knew there were some problems. Heck, Christine was in 1st place at after the morning heats, and she wasn’t even there! They’ll get it all worked out.
