Well, I was going to reply that the SEB was just trying to lump all of the ugly cars into one class, but then I saw Aaron's announcement.
I'm signed up to co-drive Karl's S2000 in the Doublecross. Queue the film ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pAbfUa_fN0E

I don't think it'll dominate DS, but I'd put good money on the fact that it won't touch AS.

Anyone getting one better see if there's a way to fit a BIG front swaybar on it, that's for sure.

Agree on both counts. My comment about it being faster than most if not all AS cars was referring to straight line accleration. Is there an A-stock car that will hit 60 in 4.7 and 13.3 in the 1/4? The 106mph trap speed shows the power this thing has for sure too...any A-stock that traps 106mph in the 1/4? Heck, in old drag racer style, slapping BFG drag radials on this thing will have it just slipping into the 12's. Amazing for a D-stock car imo. I assume the SCCA is assuming most will only generate tire smoke with the peg leg out back.

I'm wondering how the updated traction control will work too. With DSC in E46 and later non-M BMWs, one touch turns off stability control but leaves on traction control which uses individual rear wheel braking and if needed throttle control. Supposedly it is revised/updated. On a tight course it might be possible to modulate the throttle while using it to one's advantage (but probably not, lol). You get rid of it all but pressing and holding the DSC button for about 5 seconds.

Yeah, it's amazing. I left DSC on with sticky tires in Spartanburg by accident and I was able to hold the throttle to the floor in 2nd gear for the whole run! Did all of the throttle control for me.

 I hope they updated that miserable DSC.

And ES is STILL supposed to be faster? I mean yes the 944 weighs in several hundred pounds lighter, but for typical 3rd-gear sanford and danville courses, a 135 is going to absolutely obliterate the 944.

Well if Jackie is taking the ZHP down to GA tech, you'll need something to autocross up here, right?

The Corvettes put up similar 1/4 mile performance numbers but can run a lot more tire - and they are still not the cars to have in AS.

1996 Grand Sport
ZR-1 (any)

The ZR1 can run more tire and is a little faster, but is considered to be not so good in AS compared to the other Vettes.

My guess is that an AS Vette with a lower CG, similar weight, more tire and a true limited slip will beat the BMW on an AX course.

So, if the BMW can't keep up with an AS also-ran, where does that put it?

Well, if DS is the plan, it means 1.4" longer wheelbase, 2.2" longer length, 3" wider, 80lb heavier with 20 more HP...can use same wheels/tires with spacers, but will need Konis and big front bar. The only benefit is less lbs/HP with the E90 plus it has a broader torque curve.

ES is spec second gen MR2, not 944.

It puts it in FS, like the 335i. - AB

I am surprised anyone cares about this car for the stock class. Everything I have read about it says it handles like crap.

It will probably make a difference in the ST/SP/SM classes.

Edit: And it's ugly too!

I think it will be good for the class and I can't wait to see one run in person.

I wonder what they will be fetching on the used market early next year...

If anyone cares, Bimmerworld is building a 135i for One Lap. Check out the brakes they are using! There is a link to their blog on the 5th page.
