Seat time is one of the best ways to improve one's driving skill and ability, but is there any recommended literature that discusses driving technique and the motorsport world?

lol... I've played my fair share of Gran Turismo - simply ask either of my brothers. In fact, I still play Gran Turismo, Forza Motorsport, and Project Gotham Racing whenever I get the chance when I am at home.

I still can remember the long discussions I had with my middle school friends regarding GT 2. The Nissan Skyline is what started my addiction...

have you beaten GT2? GT4? golds on all license tests? i have

first generation mr2 supercharger FTW (wish i had one in real life)

hah now i'm just exposing how much of a GT nut i am...

seat time can only get you so far, as i am realizing now...some literature would definitely get me thinking about how to go faster

You're not alone... I finally broke down and got a PS2 (bleeding edge of technology here !) just to play GT4. Played every day from Jan 1 until couple weeks ago - have to take a break because my crappy steering wheel mounting 'table' is coming apart ! Need to build something more stout for those wicked hairpins...

That's pretty impressive getting Gold on all license tests - I found the rally stuff very challenging and was quite happy with Bronze or Silver and there were a few road tests where I was quite satisfied with Silver...

Have to admit, the physics is more than good enough to help anybody improve their racing skills. IMO - the driving missions are the best tool for improving driving skill / lap times in the game.

The beauty of a game like this is the ability to try different things on a given course and figure out what works and what doesn't. This is in stark contrast to AX, where you only get 4 runs on a particular course...

I had that book and didn't get much out of it (my first season). I think I lent it to Jim Williams years ago, which means it's probably been sold on ebay. Damn, and I could probably get something out of it this time!!!

Read the books, then follow it up with a chance to see him speak in person:
