Due to the potential for rain this weekend, will either Autocross events be cancelled?

I am asking because I am dying to embrace the power of quattro at some point in time this season. Perhaps it will provide me with that unfair advantage? Cue the "Truth in Blacklist".

This one is funny.

Many of us here have autocrossed while it was snowing, winds gusting so hard the entire course would blow over (even the double stacked cones), rain so hard you could only see the top 4" of the cones, 100+ degree heat (and 150F pavement temps), and with SWARMS of secadas (large flying bugs that cover everydamnedthing). Oh, and often combinations of those things.

Of course, I can't be there because it is my son's birthday. I have AWD as well, but it would be prudent for you to not post in public wishing for the weather to give you an advantage over your fellow competitors. Let's just say that one has a way of biting you in the ass. Karma and all that.

Well, we once held start for 20 minutes at Laurinburg, when it was raining so hard you could not see the start line from the bus. Otherwise, bring rain gear, snow boots or SPF 50 as required.

Normally, I'd make a remark about hack AWD drivers at this point, but I'm feeling generous tonight! :P

You aren't worried about water getting on your volkswagon electronics?

Do not wish for rain! Not even with all your driven wheels and turboz.

7+ hours of standing for (hopefully) 6 minutes of driving is not fun in the rain.

You all seriously need to take a chill pill. It's called sarcasm (in regards to the unfair advantage and all - I guess no one caught my joke) and in no way, shape, or form do I honestly think I have a chance against anyone - particularly how everyone looks down upon me so much and essentially considers me to be the scum of Autocross due to my other post. Thanks though, I sincerely appreciate it.

In all seriousness, I was really asking if the events will be cancelled because the Non-Points Autocross was cancelled late last year due to the potential for inclement weather.

I can only recall one points event that was cancelled ("called" actually after the event started) on account of weather, and it was at Laurinburg. It rained so hard that parts of the course were a 6" deep lake.

Michael, you have no idea :) When you meet all the people who are posting on these forums, you'll realize they all are laughing and having fun. And one hallmark of THSCC is making fun of whatever kind of car we may be driving.

Mike W - the VW electronics comment -- Hilarious!

Regarding rain -- bring it on! Separates the men from the boys. That miserable day in Laurinburg that Art mentioned is one of the primary reasons I bought a trailer -- all my stuff got completely ruined from sitting in a "lake" of 8" of water during that blast.

PS - there are too many Mikes here. Let's call the new guy Pedro.

I have no idea where this is coming from but TRUST me nobody thinks you are "scum" because of your other post. Hell IIRC its was 50/50 whether to do it or not

You're making the same mistake I did early on: taking things too seriously. These guys are here to help and they do, but you might get your feelings hurt a bit in the process. They were pretty rough on me at first too (and they still are when it comes down to which color blue I like) but its all in good fun. Don't judge anyone on here based on their forum postings, meet them in person instead. Dry humor/sarcasm don't translate very well to internet postings.

Anybody remember this?

Mike,
Believe me when I say that Mike Whitney (wow, Mike Whitney, you’re right! There are too many Mikes. I couldn’t even say Mike W in this case.) is right. No one is looking down on you or thinks anything bad of you in any way. This is the most tolerant and eager to help car club you’ll find-and Bernie and I run with a number of them.

Heck, Have you read any of the other posts? http://www.thscc.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=7697 We haven’t even called you the drunken village idiot! And, Steve one of our favorite Buds! Everyone likes him! :kisses:

Sarcasm, is so difficult to decipher on the written page-usually must be followed by lots of smiley faces at the very least. Also, I’ll let the cat out of the bag and tell you that every year there’s a Noob that gets his toes run over, so to speak. Ask Brice! And, I see that he posted while I was writing this. And he’s been with us three years now. Assume that anything that is said to you is said in good natured fun. Or, to explain the workings of THSCC in one way or the other. Anyone at the events will help you in any way they can. The best drivers in the club will gladly ride with you, walk the course with you, and give you all that they know. No kidding.

You’re correct that we did cancel the “fun” event in November. Ryan’s right, end of year-cold-rainy-who cares-no way. This is a new year. I remember being a Noob. About 4 events into that year I found out about Season Points. Wow! Another whole reason to be at every event! Get someone to explain that to you.

For now, come with an open mind and enjoy! This is about as much fun as you can have in a car without ruining your (and your girlfriend’s) life!
