Just in case you hadn't heard, THSCC is going to host some Evolution Schools the weekend of April 19th and 20th in Danville VA. The schools last year were a big success and I heard a lot of requests to bring them back again this year. One of the biggest requests I got was to try and bring the Extreme School back in it's intended 2 day format. I think this would be possible, but first I would like to get an idea about how many people we have interested in each of the options.

Here is a link to the Evolution School website in case you have questions about what each school offers.

I know price is important. Below are the prices we charged last year. I am hoping we can stay as close to them as possible.

Phase 1 - $225 for members, $245 non-members
Phase 2 - $225 for members, $245 non-members
Extreme (One Day) - $300 for members, $320 non-members (I've asked the price of the 2-day school and I will post it as soon as I hear back.)

I've already had at least 10 people from outside the club e-mail wanting to pre-register so I expect these to fill up kind of quick. Like last year, we will open registration to club members only a couple of weeks earlier.

I am definitely interested in taking Phase 2. I took Phase 1 in 2005 and learned a lot.

Best man in wedding that weekend. Absolute best case is that I could make a Sunday school.

But I suspect that's an outside shot anyhow.

If they have changed things and will allow you to take the Phase 2 without having had the Phase 1, I'd be interested.

I think they really would like you to take Phase 1 first. I took Phase 1 last year after close to 4 years of autocrossing and found it extremely helpful. This year I am going to take Phase 2, but I am halfway debating taking Phase 1 again as just a refresher. I wouldn't write Phase 1 off just because of experience and I think most folks that took it last year would agree.

Adam Breakey might be a good person to get advice from on this as I believe he has taken Phase 1 and 2 probably more times than we have fingers to count.

I agree with what Stephen posted.

I took Phase 1 about a year ago and found it helpful.

Yup, I did 1 and 2 last year. I felt 1 was definitely helpful and really set the stage for 2 - to the point where the concepts of 1 finally felt like they clicked when I did 2 the next day.

Definitely recommend both if at all possible.

I'm down for 2 days of whatever - sounds like Phase 1 then Phase 2 wil fit in more with what is possible.

I'll chime in on Phase 1 still being useful - I tried to listen in on all the advice given, I could tell they were tailoring the Phase 1 direct instruction to the level of experience of the driver. Alot of what I heard talked about with the experienced drivers was not even hinted at in my sessions, as I had more basic stuff to concentrate on.

Yep, Adam took the Phase 1 & 2 classes about 11ty billion times over 2 years and told me he got faster each time. I seem to remember Thee Great Eric Peterson taking the Phase 1 class before going to Nats a couple of years ago to make him faster also.

Stephen,

If we host the 2-day Extreme school, does that rule out having Phase 1 and 2 at the same time? I suspect it does since they need more than just the small amount of room Danville turns into when you divide it in half.

I took the 1-day Extreme last year, and I would really like to take the 2-day Extreme school this year; however, I'd also like for the club to meet the needs of the majority which makes me think we need to do Phase 1 and Phase 2...hence, I've not voted above due to confusion. :)

I think I will take whatever Evo schools we end up doing no matter which ones they are.

Chuck

I kind of agree that we can't get away from offering Phase 1 and 2. With the folks that have already contacted me outside the club and the few people that responded to the pole already, I don't think we would have any trouble filling either of them up. I'd like to try and duplicate the schools last year with the exception of making the Extreme School two days. In order to pull it all off though, I think the Extreme School would have to run Friday and Saturday. How many of the folks interested in the Extreme School are ok with that?

I'm almost positive the Fri/Sat Extreme school would work for me. I'm in.
