For those who pull this off....
Any tips for someone looking for the Used Hoosiers or Kuhmos that some race events hand out?

Good luck on that one. Most racers will use any decent rubber that is left, or they are flat spotted or worn so bad they aren't even worth mounting. There is a guy who advertises used race tires in the Heel and Toe though isn't there. check with him.

Yes, the privateers use them until there's nothing left. But what about ALMS and Speed Challenge events?

Just ask the people doing tire support. I know that Hoosier Tom is more than willing to give away used tires. Same with the Goodyear people at road races. I got a set of A3R03's for the VW by doing this; they were worn out for road race use but still lasted me about 30 runs on the old Scirocco.
