I know a lot of you are still driving at the 24 hr, but I can't help but feel many of you missed a truly unique event at Danville today. Even in my little 160 hp FWD hit 3rd gear (and got pretty far into it), it was truly an excercise in "cajones". The course was a blast, excellent (and safe) design, and the ability to "make up time" on your second lap was really fun. We got 8 runs (2 laps per run), so I got the seat time that I've been craving since missing the practice event (although I still think that the practice event would have helped me a lot as well, freaking funeral. . .).
I know I don't carry much clout, but I REALLY think we should try something like this next year, esp. given the "weekend rental" nature of Danville. Definitely cap the entry limit @ 30-40 (we had only 20 drivers, which is why we got so many runs), since the format dictates only 1 car on course at once, and definitely make it members only (we only had a couple off course excursions, but novices would have been dangerous out there IMO). I was a bit scared on my first run, even though I've got ~20 events under my belt. What I learned very quickly: don't lift at the wrong time.
I'd be willing to do what I can to make such an event happen, although given my lack of experience in course design, I'd clearly need some help from a more experienced member to really make it happen.
Not to mention, where were you Fienberg, I wore my Duke FSAE shirt just for you!
