Thanks, guys. I would have never flown to Packwood to run a single course format. It was a traditional ProSolo. I should have been able to find things better during the event and win the class, but at least I finally got things somewhat figured out for the challenge. It was pretty cool and very windy, so being on street tires probably gave me an advantage over my first couple competitors as both were light cars on 275's (the first was a DSP Mini the second a CSP Miata). After that everyone at least had warm tires, but up to that I doubt the Mini or the Miata did. Those Bridgestones like it better when warm, but they work *okay* cold. They're certainly closer to their max capability than a 275 A6 is, anyway.
I'm bummed I hit a cone in the final four round...my competitor did, too, so if I hadn't I would have easily won. But I pushed a little too hard thinking I was going to be getting better and better grip, and it just wasn't *that* good. Then I lost to an STU STi in the consolation round on a couple small mistakes. It doesn't take much in the way of mistakes in STS2 to punish you pretty bad...which is what makes it so amazing to watch Jim start out with blazing fast times and only get better.
Going that deep in the challenge certainly was exciting and fun, that's for sure. You end up with a much bigger audience at that point.
