So, who's making the trip this year? After 'retiring', I've decided I do miss autocross and I'm going to run the NCAC as a Nationals warm-up and run the ProSolo Finale and the Tour Finale.

I did see that the Baake clan is making the trip :) I think that's awesome. - AB

Dude, make a decision and stick with it, will ya? Flip-flop artist... :P

I'm actually glad to see you are making the trip but I'm a little bummed that you guys are running opposite days. I'm tempted to stick around to see how the other classes pan out but that will definitely make for a long trip. It's hard for me to stay away from my putty tats for extended periods. :)

I'll be there for the Pro Finale, wamp-up and the championships. Eric Sienkiewicz will be co-driving at the championships and it wouldn't surprise me in the least if he kicks my butt as well as the rest of the field.

Wow, only 582 competitors...that is less than 1/2 when I made the trips out.

I'm bailing on the warmup. I think the ProFinale will be plenty of a warmup. After last years Kansas warmup that was a non-refundable $50, my ass still hurts ;)

If I could have done anything over from last year, I would have setup my car to oversteer a lot more. I realize why I finished 4th at the ProFinale was that the car was way too tight for the surface. It's been stated that the surface now has a lot more grip, but I'm going to start out with the Crossfire real loose and dial back as necessary.

Time wise, I'm going to try to save some vacation and fly out Sunday morning and return on Wednesday. Bryan booked a hotel in Topeka for the ProFinale and Nationals, and a room at Harrah's in KC for the time in between ;) I think it's best that I get out of town for that :)

I'll be in Wednesday early enough to see you run for sure. - AB

Take a look at the number of cars that are signed up with numbers in the 100's without co-drivers signing up. I bet it gets over 1k before it's done.

I think gas prices and the stock market ups and downs will have some effect on the turnout. - AB

Luckily the fee is only $25 this year. I've heard rumors that the course may be one of the ProFinale courses but nobody seems to know for sure. I just figure if I'm all the way out there anyway, I may as well get as many runs as I can no matter what the course or conditions.

Considering the level of preparation in the top part of the field in STS2 this year, I'm not expecting much anyway. I got away with my half-ass car the past couple of years but people really dialed their cars in this year and it shows. I have some serious work to do over the winter to get my car to their level but there just isn't enough time at this point. Besides, it's too damn hot to work on anything outside! :D

I agree with Aaron. People seem to be signing up later and later for whatever reason this year. I know they changed their refund policy but I haven't looked at it. Heck, I haven't signed up and neither has my co-driver along with at least 12-15 other local people who I know are going.

They had a full event last year and preregistration was fairly light at this point as well. I think it will be just fine...

Donnie & I will also be making the trip to Harrah's in K.C. at least once to play some Texas Hold'em, so we'll probably see you there Aaron. Hopefully they'll do the Pro Solo poker tournament again Saturday night.

Keith Vail and I are going to be co-driving the Miata in C Stock, so it will be nice to have a hot shoe (and he's been hot this year) to help get the car sorted before Topeka and ready to battle Buetzer in his Miata and all the Solsti who will all be really tough to beat.

If the Mini S actually gets moved to DS next year, that class is going to be about 60+. - AB

AS is big this year. It has a lot to do with having many different weapons in the same class. The mix is excellent, although I think the course dependencies / weather will dictate who should/can win.

I think the Mini S vs. Type R battle in the same class will prove interesting. - AB

That's pretty much the case every year in any class that mixes 4WD with 2WD.

15 days later... and we are now at 1101 people and counting. Very nice. AS is at 61, SS 62... even DS is well represented at 38. I bet it gets to 1200 before the event. - AB
