Since I'm signed up, I'm looking for a Sat night roomy myself. If you're interested, please PM me. Do we have a prefered hotel to stay at w/ reduced rates? I would like to add, if you snore bad, please don't ask me to room, I'm a "light" sleeper. I don't snore myself unless it's been a heavy night of beer consumption :beerbuds:

later...

Go look at the link for pre-registration. It's listed there.

I tried booking a room at the Best Western yesterday and it was all booked up except for Jacuzzi rooms so I will be staying at the Sleep Inn. It is slightly more expensive but less than the cost of a Jacuzzi room at the Best Western.

There's an Innkeeper all the way in Danville proper that I paid $60/night for the NASA-VIR weekend. I'll stay there myself if I don't find someone who wants to share a room closer.

Where is everybody?

I see a bunch of people signed up for the practice event that aren't registered for the NCAC yet. And what about the people that can't make the practice event?

Come on out! It should be a great event and you'll get to see a bunch of new people and cool cars. We all need to get out of our little sandbox once in a while see what the other kids are up to. This is a perfect opportunity!

I'll be the kid in the red Camaro. :)

And we get to take home the Club Cup, of course, if we get a decent turnout. Can't let that leave its permanent home here.

Anyone know how the Club Cup is likely to work? I've entered HS partly to make sure the class is big enough so Bernie can grab maximum Club Cup points for us, and partly because we have a whole bunch of very fast TIR hotshoes who can bring that one home for us without my (dubious) help. I figure after the test event I should be able to run at least mid-pack in HS even on Azenis.

Speaking of which, TIR guys, you need to enter! It's one of the biggest and most competitive classes at our events, yet we've very few people signed up for it at the NCAC. It's one of our strong classes, let's bring that one home too!

I must be honest when I tell you that Highlands didn't really have any interest in continuing the Club Cub, at least for 2007. That, plus the fact that MyAutoEvents doesn't have a field for "club", is why we didn't ask for the information on the registration form. However, Stephen has asked me to reconsider and is in the process of setting up a meeting between the clubs' representatives to discuss ways to make the Club Cup more fair. As for designating which club you're representing, we will handle that when you check-in/pay at the event.

I hope I’m not stepping off into a hornet nest by following up on this…but….

…..tip toes lightly to the edge of the precipice …..

It seems like an NCAC without the prospect of having the opportunity to win the Cup wouldn’t really be an NC AutoX Championship. I’m happy to know that Stephen (Thank you, Stephen) is looking out for all of us (the clubs involved) by trying to work something out to keep the Cup in play. However, I don’t understand what “ways to make the Club Cup more fair” means. I understand that Highlands is a smaller club than the others involved, but should the larger clubs be penalized for having more members, and more members who want to participate? I look forward to NCAC because we get to compete against others that we don’t see very often. It’s a great way to measure our skills. Last year we didn’t win the cup because we had the most 1st places. We won with our 2nds, 3rds, and 4th (I think) placements. I hope you all will plan to come out and support both THSCC and NCAC.

I agree with Gwen. Size doesn't matter. Each class only has one first place, one second place etc. If a club has the best driver in a class, they get first place and the points.
I'm sure Rick has already done the statistical analyis. How many THSCC members earned points last year and how many didn't. Most of us were below the point earning threshold.
As long as a club has a driver in what? - 80% of the classes, they have a chance to win the cup. Are any of the other club so small that they can't do that?
I don't think we win the cup because we just have more entries. We have enough 1st class drivers to get more points. However, if this issue is going to hurt the NCAC, we shouldn't make it a big deal.
Now to a more important issue - will there be girls handing out trophies? Danville has to have a Hooter's or strip club. Les would know!

It means that last year's system favored the sheer number of entrants and made it mathematically impossible for HSCC to win even if every single one of our members placed first.

I'd like to make two points and leave it at that for now.
1) HSCC should have many more members competing this year so the difference in numbers won't be nearly as great as last year.
2) Even so, it still may be impossible to make it completely fair; we were just hoping to get it a little closer.

Stephen asked to have a meeting between the clubs' representatives rather than hash it out on the message boards. I hope that will still be possible.

My 1 cent (my opinion is not worth 2 cents as I am not even attending NCAC ;) )

(1) With it seeming that each club taking turns to host NCAC now, it seems to be up to each club as how they do this.

(2) So while something like Club Cup may be "expected", I don't think there is anything that says the host club "has" to do it. Until there is more of a generally agreed upon set of rules on "how to host NCAC" that all of the clubs agree to, I would expect future NCAC to be slightly different each year.

(3) Any type of competition between clubs is most likely (on average) to be won by the larger club on the assumption that they have a larger pool of talent to pull from. If rules are unfair then that needs to be addressed (I have no opinion on the rules used last year).

(4) I personaly think the #1 focus should be on the class winners and any type of "Club Cup" be a secondary concern. However I don't see ANYTHING wrong with doing something like the "Club Cup". It would be nice if it was scored the same way from year to year (see point 2 above about agreed upon rule and point 3 about fairness)

All,
Have faith. I am working on it and I will let you know as soon as we come up with something that sounds like it will work. I haven't commented on it up to this piont because I know that will start a rash of posts with "suggestions". Then you get into the "too many cooks in the kitchen" thing. I read many of the posts last year with suggestions on ways to do it and I am trying to keep them all in mind. Stay tuned.
