Oh yea, I forgot about that. I guess it doesn't suck anymore, does it?

If I ask Donnie about it, a big smile comes on his face. I am betting it will make an appearance at an autocross near you soon :) - AB

Like Scott, that skinny tire thing really helps me. And the new Bridgestones being listed as 195's instead of 205's just sweetens the deal.

It looks like I stay in my base class of TTF with 17 total points. I guess I have 2 points to burn somewhere if I can find something simple to add/remove. Hmmmmm

The NASA rules may work well with Time Trials but it looks like you can wind up with some very funky combinations with regard to AutoX'ing. I know some people seems like it better than the SCCA's method but I think it needs some serious tweaking to make it fair.

As it stands now, there are so many flipping combinations that it could drive you crazy trying to figure out what the best car for a particular class is. I'm currently liking my chances in TTF, though. :)

If I win, I'll buy you a beer Gwen.

I've been away from the forum for a week or two, but I need to remind everybody of a few pertinent facts:

1) Triad is a sponsor of this event.

2) The autocross site is not exactly the best I've seen. Granted, I've seen worse, but never paid $50 for the privilege. (I would pay that much to run an autocross at the speedway. I can probably dig up the map of the course I laid out there for our April 1991 NCAC event. There was one section that could NOT be negotiated at speed by anything wider than a 1984 Civic :))

3) August in the Sandhills. Take a hot day in RTP and add 10 degrees and 10% humidity. It will rain by 3 PM.

4) They encourage everybody to camp out. See #3.

5) Triad is a sponsor of this event.

Maybe we should see if Danville is available that weekend and hold a members-only pre-NCAC practice.

Triad isn't exactly a sponsor. They were asked to help out with the event and they accepted. Kinda like we do from time to time with other events.

They aren't running at the speedway. They will be using the same area we used a couple of years ago which is admittedly small but adequate. And, hey, free chicken bones for everybody! :)

The event should help expose a *ton* of new people to the sport which can only help out every club in the state. You never know, Tarheel might even benefit from it.

The $50 entry fee is actually a weekend pass to all the events including participation in the AutoX. Granted, I could give a hoot about the rest of the event stuff but I may check out the drift portion just for kicks. I've never seen one and it could be amusing. But hey, no sense in keeping an open mind about it if Triad is involved, right?

Yea, um, it's August-- it will be hot *everywhere*. That just means the chicken bones will be ripe and ready. Mmmmmm

And you can win some money. Granted it isn't as much as the "cool" sports like waxing, racing in a straight line or the smoke show but it is still something. I'm hoping to buy Gwen a beer! Heck, I may even get crazy and drink one myself. Not likely but it could happen.

Deep breath Art. Let it go, let it go... :D
