I will be getting there about 7:45. Normally there aren't too many people there before 7:30. Hope that helps.

I believe you can Bank on it. They haven't turned anyone away in the three years that Gwen and I have been running with them. at least not to my knowledge. Gwen and I usually get there at around 0715 to 0730 time frame, and there's very few folks there at that time. It insures that we're among the first for registration.

Are we going to authorize a Mike Dishman wood stealing party?

Well, I guess we kind of did that.

Les Davis took FTD, Jim Feinberg was FTP, Jim F. won Pro class, and, of course Les had SS. Donna Frank won AS, Chuck Branscomb won DS, Bernie won HS and Wes won CSP. Special congratulations go to Jackie Branscomb from me for winning Stock Ladies, (I did manage to snag 2nd place, along with about half the cones on course) and Stephen Westerfield was 2nd in a large SM class. If I missed anyone, I’m sorry. Results are up on TSCC site.

Chuck,

Go to their website and click on forum. Under AutoX they have a thread for results.

Thanks Gwen. I guess they're a bit behind on the results links part of the site...didn't think to look in their forum.

Also, THSCC member Ash Gravely won ES in his 944. He just got some BFG R1s also (I summarized my wonderful experience with these tires in the R1 story thread), and they have balanced out his 944 nicely. He and Jackie were having a battle for fastest PAX time with each other, and Jackie edged him out by 24/1000ths of a second!

I guess that means in just terms of stock classes, THSCC won SS, AS, DS, ES, HS and Ladies Stock.

Congrats to Bernie for snagging fifth in Pax and to Donna for putting down some very nice runs in the GXP.

I have to thank Jim for letting me co-drive the CRX as well. It was a blast and easily one of the most challenging cars to drive fast I have ever gotten to drive. It rewards hugely when you get it right though.

WOW, Christopher Lin was 2 seconds behind Jim F and STILL placed 4th PAX.

Im trying to wrap my head around that one.

I'd love to take a run in that thing one day Jim.

Anytime! It's not nearly as good as most people seem to think but it is definitely entertaining. Heck, it's not even the best STS2 CRX in the state at the moment but I'm working on that slooooooowly.

I had 3 co-drivers (!!!) on Sunday and they all did very well. We managed to sweep the top 4 PAX positions (Eric was driving my car despite what the results say) which has to be a record of some kind.

Chris Lin is another young kid with a *ton* of potential. He just started auto-x'ing recently and that was the first time he's driven anything other than his brother's stock Corolla. Heck, he doesn't even own a car at the moment! Super nice guy as well-- where do these guys keep popping up from? :D

Honestly, I think Triad dodged a bullet with the taxiway and I was glad nobody stuffed their car (or mine!) in the trees. I was on the limiter for what seemed like 1/3 of that section which translates into 60mph. Given some of the extreme maneuvers required to negotiate a few of the elements there, it was amazing more people didn't go off. It was very fun and flowed well but the speeds were a touch on the high side relative to safety IMHO. The part on the main runway was fast as well but there was plenty of room to work with and seemed perfectly fine.

I had quite a moment when my foot slipped off the brake on my 2nd run and took to the grass to avoid mowing down a large number of cones. In hindsight, I should have just mowed them down instead of taking evasive action on the tree-lined side of the taxiway but I obviously wasn't thinking too clearly at the time.

Anyway, a fun event and congrats to all the THSCC'ers for their great showing!

Jim

I agree Jim. I was very concerned at the speeds along there as I was on the limiter in the 330i also which with the 265/35's and the zhp 7k rpm limiter translates into 68.7mph. That is just over 100 feet/sec, so the margin for an error leading to an off course event was nil. The path into the trees would have either been lengthy or ugly.

Similarly, I don't think the majority of course workers appreciate Black Swan scenarios when they are standing out on a course with cars going by at 100 ft/sec. Here I'm thinking about my station 5 on the main runway where I was standing well into the grass (about mid-grass), and when I explained my reasoning to the worker relieving me, it appeared he clearly "knew" I was an idiot. Oh well...

I was getting plenty of use out of 3rd gear in the 944. Even in that 160hp car I was getting 65+ mph in a couple of places.

The event really made me appreciate the quality of tarheel events. Triad did a great job and I had a blast, but the working did leave something to be desired. Run group two had so many problems that Jackie and I worked for about 2 and a half hours.

I was definitely terrified of the end of the first narrow section. There was plenty of speed to be carried through that turn that I was not willing to do.

they couldn't possibly have topped the speeds we had at the taxiway last year at the non-points event though, right (didn't Walter get radar'd at 80 something!)? Granted, it was a straightaway for that course, and a members only event. Wasn't there, so I can't speak to their layout, but we've gotten going pretty fast on that taxiway before too. . .
