If you can get them to Bryan's in Greensboro, it's possible we could take them. We're not going to do the 85/95 route, thus we won't go near Raleigh. - AB

Need them coming back from DC. Or run on sight unseen, used Hoosiers and bring them back myself.

Hollis could bring Erik's wheels.

David,

Let me check with Adam, I believe he is planning on towing the Miata up which would mean we will have the tire rack to put them on.

I'll email him and find out.

So, yeah. The two course thing. That makes it. . . . much more complicated than the average bear.

And apparently the left side of the course 0wn3z me.

Keyboard for this thing is back at the hotel. I'll post more later if I can as typing on this little one is the suck.

I do recall that Bryan is first in the Xfire. Some homewrecker has gotten between Bryan and Aaron with Mr. Nationals parked in third. (There's maybe .5 second between all 3 of them.)

More later Popov permitting.

I just got back a little bit ago and it was a pretty decent weekend overall. It looks like the results are already posted (!) which must be some kind of record as far as I can remember.

I had a bunch of trouble on Saturday and just couldn't put together any decent runs. I knew exactly what I was doing wrong but I just couldn't shake a case of the "blahs" which put me far down in the order in the morning. I managed to move up a couple of positions in the afternoon session but I still wasn't driving very well in a few key spots which was still costing me a bunch of time to the leaders.

I even managed to put my (directional!) tires on backwards in the morning on both ends and I didn't notice it until I was torquing the final lug nut. I was feeling way too lazy that early in the morning to fix it so I just dealt with it for the rest of the day. I had at least 5 of my competitors politely come up to me and inform me I had them on backwards. Each one of them started with nearly the exact same phrase: "You probably already know this but..." Yep, I'm a car-prep master!

David Spratte and I reviewed our video Saturday evening and it was painfully obvious where we were both having our troubles. We even talked about those spots at length during our early course walks but we both proceeded to do exactly what we thought we should avoid. Sometimes you just have days like that...

Today was much better for both of us and David pulled off some very good looking runs in the morning and picked up a spot or two. He did very well for his first Pro and started to get in the groove with the different format. It can be very confusing at first dealing with 2 courses despite the fact that they are supposed to be mirror images of each other. In this case, while they did resemble each other, they were very different mostly due to the massive (and fun!) elevation changes of the lot we were using.

I finally started driving better and had a great left-side final time. My 1st run on the right side was a red-light but both runs were marred by a fuel starvation issue at the top of the hill which I'm guessing cost me .5+ seconds-- I'll have to check the datalogger later to see what the actual penalty was. I still managed to pick up a tenth from the previous day on the right side (which really shows how badly I was driving on Saturday!) but it still wasn't enough to get close to Andy Hollis for a possible challenge birth. I think I was one of the few people out there that went faster on the "slower" course as a result. Oops.

I even looked at my gas gauge on the way to the event in the morning wondering if I was going to make it but decided that I'd be fine. It had slightly less than my usual amount at just over a half-a-tank but the long extended sweeper at the top of the course was too much for it. Did I mention I'm a car-prep master?

Even with my best efforts, I could only get within a few tenths of Hollis on both sides. I think it may finally be time to install some of the go-fast(er) parts that have been sitting in my living room. I'll probably have to clean them of cat fur at this point as some of them have been sitting there upwards of a year. Did I mention I'm a car-prep, ah, never mind... :deadhorse:

Anyway, it was a fun weekend as always and I'm wiped out once again. I'll post some video tomorrow if anybody is interested in seeing the courses/lot.

Off to do my best imitation of a human vegetable,

Jim

A big congratulations to Keith Vail on winning D Stock! He did some awesome driving Sunday morning to pull off the win on his last two runs (i.e., when the pressure was really on). I got to see him run in the Challenge, thanks to my quick first round exit, and he was smoking fast in the Crossfire. Great job Keith.

Congrats also to Jim for making a great comeback on Sunday morning in an extremely tough STS2 class. David did a great job as well in a talent deep G Stock.

The courses were some of the best I've run. They were fast, required you to really hang the car out to be quick, technically demanding in sections, and fun.

I'm sure I'm forgetting to compliment some folks, but need to get some sleep.

Eric

Maybe? It's only a set of sticky tires away from CSP...

CSP allows for more if you want to get crazy with it (ITBs for example), but yeah, it is CSP legal right now. PM me and I can give you the details on what is on the car and what spares I have.

Well, at least I had fun!!! I LOVE the Pro Solo format. 8 runs on Saturday and 4 on sunday and everything happens so fast! Lots of fun!!!

Now my times didn't show my love of the courses, format and the car (despite what Adam says, the car rocks!!!) but I did drive my arse off. Maybe I just need some more seat time. Oh Well.

Thank you Chris P., for giving me the kick that I needed to go faster. I wasn't really driving until you told me to.

Congrats to Keith on his win!

Thanks everyone. The car worked well all weekend and my driving came in when it needed to on Sunday morning. I want to thank everyone that helped me keep things straight at my first Pro as well as.

I got to watch Eric running in the Miata and you were blistering fast in the Miata all weekend. Jim drove his heart out in STS2 on Sunday to pick up the time and move into second. David was having similar problems to what I had on Saturday but got it together and moved up some on Sunday in a very difficult GS class.

I had a great weekend but realized how much work I we are going to have to do to catch the Minis if they really get moved to DS for next year. I was just under 1 second on combined time behind Anthony Savini who won GS.

Well the first time is over now. It was everything I expected:

A little sweaty, confusing, awkward, most of it took place in a car, I got lost at least once, but towards the end I figured it out and was having a good time and then it was over all too soon.

The only thing missing was my childhood babysitter, but I digress.

The two course thing, I didn't expect that to be as a big an issue for me. The left side was treating me like a red shirt on Oz all day on Saturday. Right side I felt decent but my lack of performance on the left was messing with my head.

More course walks with Jim Saturday night and reviewing tape showed that I was doing everything I didn't want to do. Plus on Sunday morning, I got two pieces of advice from Eric and Chris:

Eric: Visualize the left course until you're sick of it.
Chris: Just drive like you do locally.

That was enough (after being digging a deep, deep 1.8 second hole on Saturday) to claw my way up one spot. I'll remember to drive that way on Saturday morning so I can start chipping away on the right line earlier. :)

Thanks to Jim, Chris, Eric, Aaron and Bryan and everyone I'm forgetting for helping a rookie out. Congrats to Keith on pulling a win out on Sunday. All things considered, I had a blast and I'm looking forward to the DoubleX.

Keith snuck up and surprised everyone. It was a well deserved win. I know my co-driver was disappointed to lose by so little, but that's part of the game. Congrats to Keith. - AB
