After thinking about it for awhile, I think I've figured out what happened Sunday. I think Eric is the world's best autocross instructor, so good in fact that he can actually channel directly into your brain telepathically and make you a great driver like himself. :-) That can be the only explanation as we were running nearly identical times. Now I just gotta figure out how I can get him to ride along with me for the rest of the season.

Would ya'll PLEASE STOP already with how wonderful a driver/instructor/psychic Eric is!! Do you realize that I now have to address him as "Mr Autocross" when we are at home? And when we are in public, well...let's just say the phrase "my husband is a racing stud muffin" has to enter the conversation at least once or he will make me stay up all night watching his in-car videos. This is no way to live. I beg of you. Please end this. Donnie - are you out there? Emmie? Anyone with some dirt that can bring his ego back into check?

I think it's just that after he runs over every cone on the entire course at least twice, they start to move out of his way when they see him coming the next time, thus "opening up" the course for him so that he can have a shorter distance than everybody else. It's not that he's that fast, it's just that he's running a shorter course than everyone else.

Will that do it for you, Chris? :D

I'm afraid he's just that good

Eric helped me shake off several years of rust in about two weekends. For that I am eternally grateful. Here's hoping that I can spank Whitney in the S2000 at Laurinburg in a couple of weekends...

The course was one of Triad's best efforts in quite some time IMHO. Nothing painful, only one "Kenny cone" with some features that aren't seen very often. The figure 8 at the end of the main runway could be visually confusing if you can't eliminate all but the key cones, but it had us debating how to best run it, since there were about 4 options available.
We still are not trusting the car enough thru the sweepers.
Our DL1 is going back to the distributor today it has decided to get real flakey, but we did get some in car video with the new camera setup that shows we were not putting our foot on the floor.

5 runs all at once made for long work assignments in the 90 degree heat, and running 10 runs (both drivers) in a row ran our tails off in grid switching drivers, cooling tires (went thru 2 full spray bottles of water for the tires and 2 quarts of drinking water for us!) made our grid spot seem like a Chinese firedrill. We were both about ready to pass out by the time we got back to the paddock.

Is it deciding not to record or going off line a lot? If so, I'd try another brand of compact flash card. Bryan and I ran into this. It seems to like cards that are 1GB or under, and it doesn't like Sandisk Ultra cards at all. I think the write speed on them might be too fast. - AB

Yes that's what it's doing. The card we were using is a 1 GB (not Sandisk), the same one we had been using previously that was freshly reformatted Fat 16. I have a 256MB card as well but we didn't have time to go back to the paddock and switch it out. What data was recorded read off the card into the software but most of it was bogus. One run had us hitting 140 MPH! The GPS data was just as irrelevant.

I'd consider trying your 256GB card on the street for a couple times. My guess is that you ran into the same problem we did. The 1GB one worked for a while, then crapped out. - AB

Aaron is right. The DL-1 is particularly finicky about CF cards for some reason. I went through a couple of cards before I found some that work every time. I am currently using a pair of 1G cards made by PNY (part #THNCF1G02QG) which I got on sale at newegg.com.

Yeah, and whatever you do don't even try anything over 2G in there. Ask me how I know.

I've had to send my DL-1 back once...they had it three weeks.
