The May 20th autocross in Sanford, The Third Annual "Never Give Up" Autocross -- Slalomania III, will continue the tradition set at past year's successful events.

I'm extremely happy to report that THSCC will make zero dollars from this event, All proceeds of this event, will go to the V Foundation ( http://www.jimmyv.org ) to help fight cancer.

Everyone in attendance will get their four runs in as usual for season points and event trophies will be awarded before the Main Event. Afterwards, we will be repeating the bracket race, limited to 32 entries.

The cost of entry into this bracket race is a minimum $25 donation to the V Foundation; we would appreciate that checks be made out to the V Foundation.

Competitors will be allowed one run to help dial their car in (in addition to the previous runs driven earlier). After this, competitors will put their dial in on their car. The dial in is *real* time, not PAX time by the way. Drivers will be paired up at check-in in the morning, so you all have the chance to start the smacktalk early on. If you have a preferred pairing, let that be known either here on the board or when you pay. If you attended the Evolution School, here's a chance to back up your smack. ;)

The rules are simple: Break out and go home. DNF means a breakout. The closest driver to their dial in stays and moves up the ladder. We're also not allowing "cheating" by setting a two minute dial in and letting you park the car on course with stopwatch in hand either. (If both drivers in the pair break out, the closest to their dial-in advances.)

It's all about consistency, anyone can win. And the winner gets both a fancy trophy and the right to talk smack for the next year, not to mention seven extra runs for twenty-five bucks.

We also have some surprises in store. In addition to the 50/50 raffle to benefit the V Foundation ( tickets will be $5 each, maximum five tickets per person), we are proud to announce that Discount Tire has donated two hefty gift certificates. One will be for a set of wheels (up to $500 retail value) and another for a free set of tires (also up to $500 retail value). There will be other items in there, but I'm extremely happy that Discount Tire has stepped up to the plate with this generous donation. There are other gift certificates that have been graciously donated by the Carolina Ale House and Auto Pro-To-Go.

These tickets will be sold during registration, see me in front of the bus. In fairness to everyone, the winner of the raffles will be announced just before the bracket race if you're not participating in that and want to head on home.

Also, the world renowned master gourmet chef Bowie Gray will be in attendance cooking up his fantastic dead birds.

Finally, David Spratte has donated his time and talent to put together a really nice looking event t-shirt that will be sold at the registration table.

Hope to see you all there!

Sounds like you are putting together a great event again this year Wes. I can't wait.

And you can put me down for another run at the bracket race. And a shirt...and a couple of raffle tickets too.

It's worth the price of admission just for Bowie's Dead Birds!!! YUMMMMMMMY!!!!!!!

Wow, this sounds cool. Extra runs, t shirts and dead birds?! How can anyone pass this up? 8) I am drooling already.

OK, so I've already registered for the autoX, but I would like to do this here bracket race. I will have to check with Chuck and see if he wants to be paired with me

I live just down the road, so let me know if I can help with setup in any way.

Please add me to the bracket race, even if it means I only get 2 more runs

hmm, normally I try and bolt as soon as I can, but the bracket race sounds tempting, considering at the Triad event in April, all my times were within .250 seconds of one another. . .

So I met up with Wes today and was more than happy to hand over some very cool gift certificates for the raffle. One for $500 for wheels and one for $500 for tires. I hope these help us raise a ton of money for a good cause. The shocker than also arrived with the two certificates was this:

Hopefully this will help too! 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)
