Bernie and I were there too. Of course the fact that it was raining didn't help, but, in addition to what Ryan said, the powers in charge at the time wanted the entry limited to 80 people, and they wanted security fencing put up between the part the club was using and the rest of the airport. IIRC, the shape of what was usable was kind of like the P at Laurinburg, only grown up so that looking ahead was also an issue. ALL that being said.....no, Kingston isn't too far to go. :)

Yeah I remember it now, we all bailed and went to Hardee's for breakfast

Yeah, I'm starting to realize that smaller parking lot style lots are much easier to acquire after our search this season. That said, I think that we're in dire need for another Danville/Sanford-like airfield to add to our venue collection. Maybe a $100 referral program for a successful lead with stir things up and keeps eyes open?

Kingston might be a little expensive getting the cars to Jamaica. Kinston (notice the lack of a "G") isn't far at all. 90 minutes from Raleigh. But I might have flash backs if I go back to that airport. I worked and went to school at ISO for a couple years. That was the longest decade of my life!

Do we have any connections in the club with some of the large property firms in the area. Some office parks in the area have some open lots I am sure?

Disclaimer: Don't get too excited, this is a hail mary. . .

Currently working with B.O.S.S. (Better options for single soldiers) to see if we can't work something out like what NCR has at MCAS Cherry Point. Any suggestions on what viable pieces of pavement Bragg/Pope/Simmons has as far as a logistical perspective? These all look viable from a pavement perspective, but not sure how viable they are in terms of base logistics.

Let's just find some open spaces, get in, have fun and get out before anyone notices.

The only thing I would worry about with any of those are aircraft tie downs.

Were you in contact with BOSS before I opened my mouth about it? A little mouse told me NCR got another KILLER site to rune soley due to their work with the Single Marine Program.

Has anyone ever looked at the quite large parking lot just south of Horace Williams Airport west of 86 near Chapel Hill? It looks at least 400 x 700, that would make it larger than Greenville. Just happened to see it while looking for something else.

Yep. That's it. At the time of this shot there doesn't appear to be a building to accompany the lot. Curious........

Google shows it is a park and ride lot for Chapel Hill Transit I think.

Wouldn't that mostly be weekdays? Maybe it would be worth checking.

But it does not show up as one of the listed Park and Ride lots here:
