You're welcome. :(

Does anyone know if this event requires the running of vinyl and what not? Like the Tirerack banner and the SCCA stuff?

I can't imagine so, considering it's not a Nationally sanctioned event. - AB

Good. One less thing to take care of today.

I hope we all don't need our rain gear all weekend :( - AB

Well that would be just about perfect. Get there, work early, have time to watch STS, casually change the tires, go run, and go home early.

Chuck, there's now 15 of us there in AS on Sunday! Sounds like Rick and Aaron are on for the weekend - I emailed Rick briefly this afternoon, and he said that my OE shocks fit his car. Just from THSCC we've got

Karl Shultz
Eric Peterson
Donnie Barnes
Chris Peterson
Rick Butters
Aaron Buckley
Donna Frank
Chuck Frank

Quistorff, Osetek, where in bloody heck are you guys?

Well looks like that list just went down by 2. Weatherman now says 60% chance of rain all day Sat and Sun. We don't have rain tires so there is no sense going to find out what we already know that a high powered RWD sportscar on street tires is no match for a 4WD on most any tire in the rain. :x
Have fun!

Is the car made of sugar? :?

No one in the class has rain tires and while AWD is an advantage, I'm still not scared of Donnie or Chris in wet conditions. My guess is the forecast changes again, and it will be dry. - AB

The forecasts I saw said the rain should hold off til later in the day.

Chuck, feel free to move BSP to the first run group.

That there sounds like some smack talk, Buckley! Bring it, baby! We'll see how that S(lippery)2000 handles in the rain compared to the beauty of AWD!

Ahh.. all your AWD car will do is push mid corner in the rain ;) Yes, let's bring the smack talk. - AB

I'm not in charge of run groups or anything else for that matter. I just quoted a post from another forum about the run order.
We are not giving up entirely, we will prepare to go then check the AM forcast each day.
Like I've said all along, we are not out this year just for the heck of it, or to compete with anyone in particular except at Topeka. If we can't learn something about the car by attending an event, we simply won't be there. We can't learn anything worthwhile sliding around on street tires since we would never run them at nationals, and they are not even very good in the dry so it really matters not to us what anyone else will be running this weekend or who will be there. The large class was just a bonus we were looking forwards to running with.
Had the weather report not been looking real good for the weekend up until this AM, we would have ordered rain tires instead of the new set of A6s we picked up yesterday... :(

That's too bad. I like to think I learn something every time I get behind the wheel regardless of conditions or car preparation. You never know when you'll be faced with changing circumstances during an event and, personally, I'd like to have as broad a knowledge base as possible to fall back on.

BTW Aaron, if you haven't driven an S2000 yet, look out for the super quick turn-in. I think Rick is still trying to clean the cone marks from the *center* of his front bumper when I drove it at a Tour a couple of years ago.

I'm looking forward to it. I'd be surprised if it turns in as well as Eric's 2000 MR2 Spyder. That thing cut in like a knife. It was a great car to learn in, but nothing has since turned in even remotely as well  ... it should be fun ;) - AB

Jim - no helping the competition, man!!! :stick:

Buckley - pay him no mind, that S2000 is a real tank - it has the turning capacity of an aircraft carrier. In fact, you should have started turning last week if you hope to make the first turn on this weekend's course!

Hey Chris Peterson,

If you beat me, Karl, Rick, or Buckley on either day this weekend (in your cheater AWD rain-killer STi with an illegal nitrous powered Chevy 350) I'll promise to make dinner, give both kids baths & them kids to sleep, wake, feed, and dress them, clean the house, build a undergound wine cellar, and teach the girls spanish all week long. Oh wait, I already do all that stuff anyway, so the bet's off :-)

I hope you and your loser co-driver, whatever his name is, enjoy getting crushed by all the Hondas this weekend, even though we are at a huge horsepower and handling disadvantage to the STi. I read on the internet that stock STi's have like 500 hp at the rear wheels and pull 1.68 G's on the skidpad while on 175/85 street tires :-)

Sincerely,
Anonymous
