cool. Actually one of those is supposed to be Todd (#175) -- I already emailed Nancy Downing to get that corrected.

Wow, I think I just got in under the 230 limit as there were 227 when I entered, and I tried to process the two entries as fast as possible.

I sent a note to the SCCA about this, but I wasn't able to enter Jackie's name in the entry form. We have a family membership, but the entry form had a non-editable field with my name in it. I went ahead and entered in DSL anyway.

I went back and edited the entry, but the name field is still not able to be changed. Oh well. Hopefully they can sort this out and not just pitch the entry. I did note it in the "note to registrar" field also.

E-mail address? I'll send her one about Jackie's entry too.

Thanks,

Chuck, if you have a family membership then you'll each still have different membership numbers and thus different logins for the site. For example, my ID has a "_1" after the number for me to login, and I presume were I to need to register my wife or kids I'd have to login with an "_2" or something.

I'm pretty sure that's how it works. Take a look at the membership card for your wife and see if the number is somehow different. It may be that one of you has a normal number and the rest will be underscore-something.

each of you needs to register for the site as separate identities to register each of you for an event. She needs to create her own login with her membership # and password. After you register you need to log out of the site then log back in using her # and password. Now her name will be in the name field and she can register herself.

Why?
Same story every time we change classes it seems. Whatever we pick will be that season's most popular class in the east with all the hotshots jumping in and the least popular class in the west. I am not the quickest driver, but am often significantly quicker than some of the people on the left coast. Points are doled out by finish position in each event, so the uber slow driver that runs at events with 4 in the class ends up with more points than I do finishing say 10 out of 15 but closer to the winner. They get into the finale easily but I end up hoping to get in off the waiting list.
I'm really not complaining as much as sharing an observation and frustration. I know no one is doing anything deliberately, and since we choose cars and classes based on Donna, I just have to live with what I am handed. Oh well, I'll have to try harder and hope maybe we have chosen a car this time that fits both of us.

With the '07 bastardized ProSolo season, I wouldn't care about getting into the Finale. 115 people are already qualified (myself included), but don't want to win the year end in the year when it's chopped up.

When I ran STS, our average class size was 14 drivers per event. I liked it because you're competing against a bigger sample set, so when you go to Nationals you're used to a big field. The same was true for CS in 2002 when I ran the Tours in Eric's Spyder.

AS was going to be a huge class regardless this year because of the parity (similar to GS in 2002) with many cars that all are proven winners: C4, STi, Boxster and 993. It's a good place to test the GXP. - AB

Donnie, Chuck,

Thanks for your replies which make perfect sense. I just joined the SCCA again yesterday (I used to be an SCCA member ages ago --mid to late 70's  ) after Adam's post here so that I could register for the Pro Solo, and all that I got was a 6-digit membership number in the confirm e-mail.

I did pay for a family membership and entered the information about my wife, son (he'll be 21 later this year) and daughter (18 next week). My daughter, Jackie, is who I was referring to above.

I contacted Nancy Downing via e-mail to straighten it out. Now I'll also check into the "-1", "-2", etc issue.

Thanks,
Chuck

I don't understand. Did you not look at AS before you got the car? It's been a very tough class for quite some time now, and pretty tough on BOTH coasts. As to how the DC Pro registration fits into this, I see a grand total of ONE name on there who might be considered a "hotshot" who wasn't already in AS...Eric Stemler. Everyone else appears to either be a "local" or someone very competitive who drove in the class at least last year, and many for several years before.

AS has also usually been a fairly popular class in terms of total numbers for a while. Jonathan doing well in the STi didn't hurt things, either, since there were a lot of non-believers with basically stock AWD AS cars who had been running in STU since they thought that was their best shot anyway (on the local level, I mean).

being able to do the finale makes the trip out to Topeka more palatable.
This year without qualifying points class size is more a moot point. I REALLY don't like the qualifying system of the 06 trophy winners getting first qualifier, what does 06 have to do with 07? How many of those people are going to even be in the same class, or are they going to let them cherry pick the class they want to run in as well?
Donnie yes, I did expect AS to be a strong class but it hasn't been the largest class of late. When we ran CS, it was the largest class, when we ran GS it was the largest class, even HS was a big class the last two years. Now look, HS 4 entries, CS and GS 10 each, AS 18. I just find it amusing more than anything else.
Unless AS gets a very favorable L1 factor, Donna is planning on running open just because of the strength of the class, she wants the push for nationals.
