It should not be missed if your serious about this sport.
Absolutely Bernie, perfect quote.

I had a wonderful day on Saturday at the Extreme School, and Jackie had a similarly outstanding experience on Sunday at the Phase 1 school. BTW, I almost ran into you and Gwen in the Hardees Sunday morning as I was headed toward the coffee, but I was in my running-late-with-four-hours-of-sleep-still-wasted-from-Extreme-school mode and didn't even notice it was y'all until I saw you getting in your truck -- sorry for not saying hello.

The Extreme School was great. I was completely worn out by the end of the day and so were the tires! I think I made about 30 two lap runs during the day. I guess that a whole season of autocrossing in a day!
I was worn out and still tired Sunday. It was well worth the money and I recommend it to all.
I was completely worn out too Walter but had a wonderful experience as everyone else did. It was great to see the improvements that everyone was making -- like that almost perfect slalom John Sullivan did, lifting the inside rear wheel on each cone, just barely making it past each one. He had the whole worker crew yelling and clapping for him. For someone who just took the Phase 1 and 2 the weekend before and then drove all the way from NY to take the Extreme, he sure is on a vertical learning curve at 72-years of age. It was great to live his progress with him -- what an interesting and fun guy too. He took the Phase 1 again on Sunday and had a great day also.
Mike, Jr, and I really hit it off with the M5 since he has a special love for big and powerful cars, and we really had a battle with each other driving it -- dang, that was so much fun. I wish I could have had a second day with Mike and Tim, perhaps next time the normal 2-day extreme school could be run.

Personally, I would really like to have them back again next year if I can drum up enough interest. I am thinking Phase 1 and 2 again and maybe a Challenge School. There were lots of folks that expressed interest in this yesterday as well.
Stephen, I think that hosting this again next year should work out at least as good. I think that most everyone who went will want more, and the enthusiasm of us will have worn off on other club members too perhaps.
I agree with Chuck and Donna -- you can sign me up now for either another Extreme school (2-day version would be really nice) or the Challenge school. Jackie is going to GA Tech next year, and she’s not happy about leaving the autocross fun of the THSCC, but she’ll be up for another event too I’m sure. At least in the Atlanta area there is a lot of autox opportunity with the SCCA and the BMWCCA. Speaking of which, I was really proud to see her aggressively attack the course on Sunday’s Phase 1 event, developing that “slither” as Tim calls it. For me it was one of those “parent moments” when you get pretty emotional watching your child just do it right on the course. I’m really glad she got to experience this type of training in such a condensed format so early in her autocross career. She is really looking forward to the Motorsports Club at GA Tech, building/driving the Formula SAE car, etc.
BTW, if you want to pull out the 3 timed run autocross done at the end of the day Sunday in Phase 1, I wrote down the starting run number on your roster...I think it was run #167 in that Sunday afternoon event file. I think you could perhaps save that event file to a different name and then delete all the runs above 167? Just a thought in case someone is interested.
Finally, Stephen should take a bow for bringing this wonderful event to the THSCC and for all the nitty-gritty behind the scenes work needed to pull off a successful event! Good job Stephen!! Thanks!
P.S. Stephen, Judi was really doing well from what I could see and tell from the bus. She was really nailing the start and into the slalom. I'm sure she's going to close the performance gap between you and her.

It was great to watch her progress. You should be really proud of her!
P.S.S. For anyone who was not at the Phase 1 at the end of the day on Sunday,
you missed some of the best possible driving by two of our THSCC members. They had a championship event where you had to drive within 0.5 sec of your fastest time and not hit any cones. If you hit a cone, you were out. Slower than 0.5 sec slower, you were out. I think there were 4 or 5 left when they had to lower the time limit to 0.25 sec over to try to end the competition. The winner was Chris Suich who beat Stephen Westerfield by 0.009 seconds!!! Third place went to Don Ingerslew.
The battle between Chris and Stephen was amazing, and their times throughout the competition were within 0.2 seconds or so for each run for many runs. It was an incredible display of car control (no cones hit) coupled with consistently taking their car to the limits of the course. There could not have been a more perfect display of skill to end out the course than this one. Good job guys!
