Can anybody supply me with the timing system software if it is possible? This is just for research purposes. Preferably, I would like a copy of the TS98 software and a sample database or 2 from actual auto-x results. If you can’t send the software, would it be possible to get just the output database files from a couple of the events this year? A copy of the TimeQue software would be handy as well if it’s possible.

My current understanding of the “timing process” without actually having seen it in person is that the TS98 program is used for gathering all the registration and results for an event. To score an event, one person sits in front of the timing box and records all the data onto the raw sheets while another person sits in front of the computer with the TS98 and TimeQue windows up.

All the TimeQue window does is show the raw times generated by the JAC box which communicates through a serial port to the PC. The “computer person” either copies and pastes or directly types the info generated from the TimeQue window into the TS98 software. Results are then printed out and compared (audited) with the raw sheets to make sure everything agrees. Is this basically correct or am I missing a step or 2?

The main point in sticking with the TS98 software is due to the fact that it creates an Access database which can then be manipulated in any way, shape or form as desired. This way we can have custom results and whenever an event chair comes up with a wacky way of scoring an event, it can more easily be accommodated. Is that correct?

I have a couple of ideas I’d like to explore but before I get into any details, I just want to make sure I have all my facts straight and take a look at the current software if possible.

My email address is "jamescf @ bellsouth.net" if you want to send me something directly.

Thanks for any help,

Jim

Jim,

Carl & I are the folks with everything you're asking for. We should make personal contact to get you set up. Contact us directly at our email addrs (or via the webmaster addr).

For others who might be interested/have thoughts (or might want to develop some) on this subject, your assumptions, Jim, are mostly correct with the exception of how the data gets from the timer software into TS98. TS98 actually interfaces with the timer software so that the user can apply a keystroke combo to transfer the time at the top of the timer software stack directly into the driver's record being displayed in TS98.
