Err, for those of us who weren't there, WHAT HAPPENED??? Doesn't sound good, though it sounds like one of those "coulda been worse" things.

In a nutshell, it was drizzly wet, and the Silver PT Cruiser in front of Malia didn't see the car in front of them waiting to turn left to a small church. The Silver PT Cruiser (she remembers this vividly) slams on their brakes, and swerves off to the right, sliding around the turning car on the shoulder. Malia, following behind, hits the brakes, but can't bring it down in the rain, and opts for the out into the front yard off to the right (instead of the rear-end collision). Unfortunately, there wasn't enough grip in the grass to slow the Durango down enough or change it's direction enough, and the small ditch guided her right into one very large tree.
I was a couple minutes behind, having stopped for gas in Wagram, but I believe the Breakey families were first on the scene. EMS and HiPo responded, but outside of being shaken up (more Malia than Marisa) all was ok. Marisa was asleep at impact, and was still rear-facing, so no neck extension, seatbelt burns, etc... Malia has some airbag rash, left shoulder is sore (seatbelt likely), and left knee is aching where she probably made contact with the lower dash (over an old knee surgery that's always been a little tender). Marisa was a happy, smiling, baby running around like nothing happened once we got home and got her fed.
Marisa's Graco Metro-Lite carseat looked perfectly fine, a testament to their build quality for sure. Of course, this seat will be getting destroyed now, but it looked ok nonetheless.
So, in the end, it wasn't the end to a good weekend we had hoped for, but it certainly could have been worse.
And, as Malia said, THANK YOU to everybody that stopped or called to make sure we were ok, helped us clean out the truck, offered hugs, helped us home, etc... the THSCC "family" really stepped up tonight, and there just aren't enough thanks for that.
