Les,
Can you tell if the diaphragm is torn or if the bypass armature is sticking?
When I was diagnosing my boost leak a few months ago, I noticed the armature on my bypass valve was sticking part way through its travel motion. To fix it I added a washer to the base of the armature so that it moved freely. I'm not sure if you might have the same problem without looking at it, but you may want to check it. Next I would check for vacuum leaks. If the bypass is torn, I hope you can get a replacement quickly.
I was planning on going up there for both days. How far are you from Danville? I'm on a limited budget right now, so I don't want to get a hotel room, unless I can split the costs. If you're not too far from the site, I might take you up on your offer.
Jeff
I can manually actuate the armature, so I'm guessin the diaphragm is torn. I detached the vaccuum line from the diaphragm last night with the engine running in hopes that the busted diaphragm was making the other noise, but it made no difference, the noise was still there. And when I put my finger over the detached hose, there was quite alot of suction there, so I don't think there is a problem with enough vaccuum. I really have no idea what else this noise could be, and BRP has not responded yet to my request for help.
As for this weekend, my house is in Raleigh, so its like 1:15 to Danville. Not a bad commute at all since it is a nice drive, but we could get a hotel room also if one is available. We can take this conversation to PM...
