back on topic, it looks like we have a lot of first timers, can anyone help mentor as well?

I could probably do it. PM me with the information on what needs to be done. - AB

I'll be lucky to get there on time. . . .

Maybe an ITR in DS.

we could use at least 10 mentors for Sunday to help out with novices. It's not difficult or time consuming, and can be fun: Be their designated goto guy or gal for questions, ride with them on their first (or more?) run, let them ride with you on your first run, give them some instruction/advice/handholding where needed to make their first event as rewarding as possible.
Who can we count on?

cool! need ~ 9 or so more! You don't need to be a national caliber driver to do this, just not another novice. Remember how lost you felt your first time, especially if you didn't know who to ask questions! Be an AX ambassador!

I am one of the event chairs, ottomans, toilets or whatever they are called... but if needed, I would be happy to help a novice out.

When I was a novice...it was raining for my first event at Rocky Mount, Diane was running around in a sports bra barking orders to everyone. My first conversation with a THSCC member was with her telling me I was CSP because I had an aftermarket rear sway bar on the Miata.

Dishman took us for a novice walk and only explained safety points and told us not to hit any trees.

Then we were left to our own vices.

Those were the good old days...it made us tough. No mentors, hand holding, coddling, diaper wiping in the old THSCC

There was no novice instruction for my first event. I remember Rice telling me the finer points like, 'try not to hit anything' and 'I wish there were hot single girls doing this'. I should have listened and stayed away. :) - AB

My first novice experience and course walk was with Alan Giles, for those that remember him, you can imagine that that was pretty entertaining.

With those experiences y'all will be perfect mentors, you certainly can't do any worse!
You'll have to draw straws as to which of you gets to wear the sports bra tho...
So, should I put you on the list?

GD Aaron that made me snarf diet soda. You owe me a keyboard

"Try not to hit anything..." yeah, that actually sounds like something I'd say, even now...
