Before I am called out, I will share thoughts on my point system for the cup on this forum.
Quote:
Maybe for next year something a little more fair. For example, take the top 50 drivers in PAX. Award the top driver 500 pts and then start subtracting the the difference in PAX results times 10). If the second place driver is .1 behind, they are awarded 499 points....

A format like that would not be baised to turnout or class cherry picking. Dump the final PAX into excel and have the final result in 5 minutes.

An example from Greenville using 100 pts as opposed to 500 pts. Less than a point, you get one point. The tie breaker would be the club with the highest finishing PAX driver.

A chink in the PAX armor :)

I think the idea has merit, but we might sub-divide it a bit to lump like-classes together.

maybe:

Stock PAX
SP PAX (I'd include SM and SM2 here)
P and M PAX
ST* PAX
Tire PAX

It's more time comsuming to score, but keeps tire-discrepancies down a bit.

I have a call in to Deloitte and Touche to manage the club cup computations.

Trust me, this has been talked about (amongst the clubs) to the point that I dont care how its scored, we just need to win it.

You can shoot holes in EVERY possible scoring method, although I kinda like Jim's idea. I would think you would need to do the same thing for
RAW results and add them together.

'Cause we all know PAX SUX!

Unless of course you are in a stock class with R comps!

I like Jim's top 50 idea. Sound like great food for thought for next year's event.

See, you all want to make it more complicated :-) The only caveat is TIR class....and since it is not an SCCA class...sorry charlie they do not count towards the Cup. Unless TIR competitors want to come with their own indices. But in all reality, they would have little or no impact.

My method clearly* shows who would have won it last year...based upon the top 25%.
THSCC 1003
TSCC 745
CCR 426

* these results are based upon best guess of club affiliation. So don't hold these to be the absolute gospel. Plus I am suppose to be doing real work...

Finally, you see nice mix of classes in the top 30. That is what I would expect from PAX at an event such as NCAC.

You can used a % point also. That's what they used in Quebec for as long as i remember.
The winner has 100 the others have: time of winner/by is time X100.
They group all the stock classes together using the PAX to determine the stock classe winner. They do the same with SP, ST, etc
Here a link to the 2006 season results so far for exemple.

Jim-

We don't count pro class in the points, so it looks like I should have been the 100% number :)
