Thought I'd split this comment from the NCAC into a separate thread:
You know, there is always the possibility of approaching the RBC Center again in the future about running there. It would just take a lot of work from someone who really understands the issues to put together a proposal and try to work on the management. Miles and I have a pretty good understanding of what it would take to approach the RBC Center again, but both of us are too busy with our own lives to take it on.
For those of you who don't know, we got booted from there because, as a (partially) publicly owned facility they are required (?) to solicit bids for insurance every X years. They changed insurance companies, and the new company saw something about racing in the parking lot, and swung the axe.
At the time we discussed it w/ RBC Center management, there seemed to be the possibility of an "in" if we had more infrastructure present -- specifically an ambulance and a trained EMT, or something like that.
Anyways, if anyone out there wants to try to get this ramped up again, let me know. I'd be happy to meet and give a brain dump on what I think would and should and could be done. Don't volunteer unless you can really stick with it, be organized, and be a good schmoozer.
Where there is a will there is a way.
