And Donnie...c'mon, you hualed a car to Colorado and California for AX events this past month or two. So of course Greensboro versus Raleigh are not big deals to you.
Actually, Raleigh would be further than Greensboro for me. But we don't even have a Raleigh site. Greensboro and Sanford are almost exactly the same distance for me. All I'm saying is Greensboro is closer than all the TH sites other than Sanford, and it isn't much further for *most* TH members than Sanford would be. Certainly not enough that most won't be able to stay at home the night in between if they choose.

And the Whipple designed NCAC event at Sanford was a very, very, very good one. Any Peterson designed course at Laurinburg has always been stout. Actually, his courses at Laurinburg are the best the club runs.
I doubt anyone would debate any of that. I never said Greensboro was ideal, just that I don't see a problem with Tar Heel doing an event in Greensboro, nor with Heyward designing the course (particularly for the NCAC). You can have the opinion that we have better sites for one reason or another, but there are definitely pros to the site that was chosen as Feinberg has pointed out. Most importantly, someone *is* doing that work. I'm quite certain that if you'd like to volunteer to be on the committee they'd make room for you for future events. While I'm sure you're "supportive" of the event, I also think your post sounded somewhat critical of two key issues. My opinion is there is nothing wrong with the choices the leadership has made.
As usual, sounds like folks are getting worked up on both sides, though. Me, I'm not. JimP has a right to his opinion that it should have been done differently. I do admit that an NCAC at Laurinburg would have been really cool, but I've spent enough time in the hot sun at events that the lure of air conditioned bathrooms at an event is quite attractive.

But Laurinburg isn't a very central location, and isn't attractive at all to sponsors nor likely to draw from the best the state has to offer. It'll get a lot of TH members, but not a lot past that, I'm afraid. I think the best bet for building this thing back into something "special" is to do exactly what they are doing.
For the record, my out of state excursions thus far are:
Ft. Myers, FL
Walnut Ridge, AR (twice)
Atwater, California
Mineral Wells, TX
Peru, IN
Kershaw, SC (road racing)
Still to go:
Topeka, KS (twice)
Denver, CO
I think that might be all.
