it is indeed a 2006 FACTORY JCW, not dealer installed, so it IS eligible for stock class other than the wheels. Its not a question of spacers, the stock wheels are +50, the new ones are +42, they'd have to be machined to comply with the rules, and considering they only weigh 14.3 lbs (for a 17x7 wheel!) already, I think removing any material from them is out of the question.
Realistically, its all moot, being competitive isn't the goal at first more than it is just getting comfortable with the car and autocross in general (this will be her first autocross driving), but it does present an interesting question. As far as my source, I don't know who moutons is either, I just searched for "SCCA Solo II stock class" and that was the first page that came up, it seemed to have relatively recent information (made the distinction between '06 JCW's and pre '06). We will probably choose the class she runs in based on the number of entrants in each class in the future, but for her first, we will run her in Novice, and put her in STX just so she gets the lower PAX number (correct me if I'm wrong, but BS PAX=.822, DSP PAX=.829, and STX PAX=.804?). Thanks so much for all your help on this guys, sorry if its been brought up before. We look forward to seeing you at the Autocross on the 30th! You obviously know what she will be driving, I'll be doing my damndest to keep up in my 3!
Though you still need to figure out the car class, another option not yet mentioned for your wife to run is Ladies class. Some ladies chose to run it, some don't, but I think more do than not. It's a PAX class much like NOV or TIR, but allows a slightly "different" venue for your wife to play should she so chose.
Of course, Chick School's coming up too.....
