Congrats to GH. Sorry Donnie things didn't work out but it seems the car may be competitive. Are there any plans for a FSB and exhaust?
GH isn't a member and as such doesn't read the forum, but I'll try to remember to pass on the congrats this weekend.
As for the car being competitive, we pretty much disagree. This was a high speed transition course that was good for the Elise and Cayman. And a stock Elise on A6's with an FSB kicked our butts. GH didn't think there was much time left in the car on day two in particular. Braun is pretty good, but Brian Connors was within a tenth of him on day two. That tells me Braun probably had a good bit of time left in his car, particularly once he gets shocks and a diff in it.
There's no diff for us. We're pretty sure it's impossible to put any significantly larger bar on the car (and GH even thinks it really may not need it). An exhaust would only help in the weight department, but even then not by more than 25 pounds or so. But that's moot, because the new design integrates a second cat pretty much *in* the muffler which means there's not much left to replace "cat back." (Porsche is known for doing better exhausts as far as power is concerned than any aftermarket companies when talking about cat-back systems...GH tried several aftermarket systems on his Boxster and all lost significant amounts of power at the dyno).
The only thing left would be shocks, which I'm firmly convinced aren't going to help that car enough to be worth the expense.
The only thing we proved, IMHO, is that the car isn't competitive in SS and probably is competitive, if not a slight favorite, in AS.
As for the A6's, they seemed clearly better in my observation than S05's. They seemed to get hot *fast* (my first runs each day felt good out of the box), yet they didn't build too much heat and did cool fast. Kumho folks were cooling tires on a cool day, and we didn't have to touch ours. The CS folks seemed to think the A6's were clearly better than S05's, too. Personally, I'll be shocked if everyone isn't on A6's that can get them in their size needs, including the Vette folks. But that's based on pretty limited data so far.
