I had to wait until the last second, to make sure I could get off work, to sign up for the Novice event this Saturday. So I am on the reserve list and probably will not make it to the novice school. Should I still show up in case enough others cancel out?
Will I still be able to do the crosses later in the year and will there be someone around to provide handy pointers and do's&dont's?
I also need to figure the class my car will be in. Will that be done when I come to the event or is there some other inspection for this? I think I will be in the " getting completely thrashed because I did not consult any rule list before building the car" class. It was built for the 2005GRM challange but I ran out of money so there was some cost "effectiveness" involved.

Chuck, welcome. I can't answer the questions about this weekend specifically, but we do not REQUIRE that a novice attend the school, but it's a great opportunity to get some experience and pick up some pointers. We also have a novice mentor "program" to help pair novices with experienced drivers at our regular events.

You can get info on car classing from the SCCA website. This link gives a general overview of the classes:

http://www.scca.com/_filelibrary/File/s ... gories.pdf

and this page has the rest of the online rule publications:

http://www.scca.com/Solo/Index.asp?IdS= ... 050|070&~=

Don't worry too much about it if you can't figure it out - somebody should be able to help at the event, or you can post a "list" of the mods from a base stock version of your car to this list and I'm sure others will be happy to help.

Most importantly though, don't foget to have fun! Oh, and there's lots of good info on the thscc.com website for novices - check it out.

Chuck it's your call, but I doubt you'll get in on Saturday. We have the entry limit in place to ensure a 2:1 student to instructor ratio and to make sure the students get lots of seat time.

You are welcome to come on Sunday as we have lots of people willing to help you get started. Contact PJ Aspesi or Dan Durusky about getting in the new Novice Mentor program.

Yep, i agree that unfortunately, it is probably too late to attend the novice school.

However, we have set up a novice mentor program this year for all novices for all regular points events. So do register and show up on Sunday and we'll pair you up w/ someone to show you the ropes.

I will try for the Sunday event but it will probably be the next one. This Sunday has been promised to the wife. But she might want to come down and watch. She likes the Hotrod stuff. I might even get her to join and try out her Prelude.

Did you say Hot Rod? By definition isn't that arear wheel drive, American made car with a lot of horse power, loud exhaust, big tires and lots of chrome?
Camaro SS = Hot Rod
Prelude = Ricer :wink:

A hotrod is a hot rod. You know it when you see it. Like the Durocco.
A real ricer is the guy with the loose combat kit still in gelcoat, four foot wing and small trashcan for exhaust tip.

"Yea, but should we talk about which one is actually faster? "

My car would be very quick if pushed off a cliff. :)
