I asked about classing w/ the CDV (Clutch Delay Valve) delete on scca.com boards and i was told to email the SEB. So i did. The reply:
Quote:
Hi, Dan,
There is not an allowance to make any changes to the clutch actuating
mechanism in Stock, Street Touring, or Street Prepared categories. So
I'd say the "1st" category you come to that would allow removal of a
clutch delay valve is Street Modified (SM).
For Regional (local) SCCA Solo events, the host SCCA Region can allow
cars to remove the clutch delay valve in any category, including Stock.
This would be a Region-only allowance and would not apply to another
Region's events or Divisional or National Solo events.
I was fortunate to drive the BMW 330Ci of 2003 DS National Champion
Kevin Youngers at a ProSolo event in California. I was cautioned about
the clutch delay valve when shifting into 2nd gear, so I'd have to say
that Kevin didn't think it would be compliant to remove the valve from
his car.
Hope this helps.

So. Mayyyybe we can make this an authorized THSCC mod for ST* and/or *SP?
To be honest id probably run BSP if it was approved because SM is just silly imho, but if i could get some support for it id really like to run STU. And keep in mind i'm being upfront and honest w/ this. i could easily have not told anyone. (which is the advice on all the BMW boards)
And to recap. the Clutch Delay Valve is simply a small 'valve' that is just a really skinny tunnel (smaller than the clutch hardlines) that reduces fluid flow to reduce drivetrain shock. I don't see it as a performance mod or good for anything really autoxwise. I just like it out because its smoother for daily driving.
All in favor?
