I think he is talking about the *highly* stylish side mirrors.

WOW - he got that fast!

How well did it do against Jr's ASP z06? I am assuming it was still on the stock street tires.

Turns out a doctor in Houston did not like it. So Rod flew down and drove it back. So it is used...90 miles on it when Rod picked it up.

Junior was in California instructing, so Diane Johnson co-drove the Z06. It is very fast right out of the box on street tires. The course was awesome, one of the truely great equalizing courses I have run in a while. We will see how well it did when results are posted. But I think ES took the 2 top PAX spots.

The car is off to the shop in the next week or so. The SP set up on the car will run about $10,000. The good thing, it is being done at little or no cost to Rod :o the downside? He is the experiment for the pieces to see if it works together.

Danny Propp wil be co-driving the car in 2006.

The funny thing is how the other Vette owners steered clear of the car. Even the Subbie owners were curious. But I think there was a little Vette envy happening :) SS will get a lot more expensive in 2007!

cool -- I know when he got out of Jr's car at the last event up there he call Karen and asked her to find him a yellow z06 FAST. I guess she did. :)

I know I would have had vette envy if I was there... but I would have been working the angles to get at least one run in the car.

And you are right... SS (should the car get classed in SS the following year) is going to get a lot more pricey. I am saving my pennies... I will take one in red please.

Doesnt the new Z06 have 19" rears? Is someone gonna make a 19" R comp?

Hoosier is suppose to have one out by late December. So that should not hold you up from placing your order for a Z06 :D

I'm hearing a lot of talk about how you can't turn off the traction control 100%, which if the case, would suck. - AB

If it behaves like the Z06 in the most recent C&D, that might be a good idea.

GM brought one out to CMP for the NCM Vette HPDE they ran last weekend. David Farmer and a few other hot shoes got to drive it. David mentioned the same thing. However there was some mention that disabling AH/TC and getting in Comp Mode is the exact opposite of the C5. So they may have accidently got it in Comp Mode instead of completely disabled. Apparently the torque band on the car is very linear and pulls strong from 2K-6Krpm. Everyone liked the LS7 drive train and those monster brakes.

Oh and on the brakes and a few other tidbits.

The brakes are a bolt-on upgrade for the C5. 2 guys have already converted a 99 FRC and an 02 Z06. You preferably need the C6 Z06 wheels to clear the front brakes. But an 18" C5 Z06 rear wheel will also clear out front with a small spacer. The interesting thing is these things use 1 pad per piston. 6 piston fronts and 4 piston rears. So it takes 20 pads for a pad change...

The other good news is the LS7 will work in place of the LS6 in a C5 Z06. And the clutch, pressure plate, flywheel are all bolt-ons. People are already looking into getting the accusump and other parts converted over.

So a possible option for C5'rs is to build out a C5.5
