I attended this last year. It was a great event. Tons of runs w/ some fantastic instruction.

I am not sure if I am going to make it this year, as we have a baby due in mid December. I don't think he will be old enough for his first family trip to an autocross just yet.

Plus I am planning on being in Florida for the Nat Tour event in Feb which has a 2 day Evo school just before it.

It appears so. Jean Kinser Dana (owner of Evolution) announced that she would be holding a 2 day evo school the Wed/Thurs prior to the Ft Myers Tour this February. The dates she announced were Feb 15th/16th. So that would put the tour on the 18th/19th.

I believe this to be accurate for a couple of reasons. I know that Dave Hutter of GCAC in Ft Myers was in discussions last month w/ the SCCA about hosting another tour event this year. I also know that Jean is in close contact w/ the SCCA in order to schedule schools near Tour/ProSolo events. And I also talked w/ Andy and Ann Holis this past weekend and they both said that they cannot confirm the Ft Myers date, but they winked as they said that.

Also - they gave me more details about potential loocations for ProSolos this year. 9 dates in all (3 west, 3 central, 3 east) -- Atlanta, Toledo and Peru for east... Texas (houston likely), Topeka, and TDB for central... Seattle, Utah and California for west coast events. --- --- --- it was also mentioned that the Peru date might change to be a central location and then adding another East coast event... she mentioned Virginia.

To sum it up... Ft Myers will most likely have a Tour event in February.

That was what the discussion was about. GCAC have been running the EXACT same finish there for 10 years. From what I understand Dave Hutter has agreed to have 'input' on the design, but not final say. So, I am assuming that it will be a different course.

I used to run w/ GCAC every month when I lived down there... it was very nice sticky concrete... but the club (and owner) sucked. Its too bad that such a nice site is stuck with only that one club running there.

It would be awesome if we could get a Pro Solo again in Virginia - that makes the whole season much easier and cheaper to do! As much as I like the site in Oscoda, I certainly would not complain if they bag that site b/c it's such a pain to get to.

It will be interesting to see if the Topeka Pro will be run at Heartland Park. I could see that event bringing in a lot of people to test out the new surface.

Eric - I have heard from a very good source that Oscoda is not coming back this year. Also... that the Topeka event will likely be at Heartland Park. There is concern over logistics for Nationals and they are talking about it being a trial run for a ProSolo mid year. I will make sure to sign up EARLY for that if it does happen.

I am hoping for the VA site too. I would then do: Atlanta, Toledo, VA and Topeka for the ProSolos... and likely Ft Myers, Atlanta and somewhere else for the Tours.

We're on the schedule at Ayer, MA for a Tour in June. Hopefully it won't conflict with a Road Racing weekend so I can come out and say hey to the Tarheelers. :)

Adam - thanks for all the inside info. At least we can start thinking about where we might go this year for big events.
