Registration opened yesterday for the October 16th VMSC event at the Virginia Motorsports Park (VMP). It is awesome site and a pretty good group of people to run with.

So if you are looking for a little action and not big on picnics, this is it. I hate to miss the picnic, but need the seat time.

How far away is it Jim? I need to continue fine tuning the miata's handling, it is almost where I want it to be.

Every thing is far away from Pittsboro! It is located in Dinwiddie, VA. About 90 minutes due north of Raleigh. They have some stout ES drivers there.

Hey Jim,

When you go up there, please tell them not to throw my trophy out! Tell them I'll be at the Oct 30th event. By the way, when will registration for that event open?

I might wait till next year to go to a VMSC event. I love having good competition but I am still on street tires and that doesn't hold up well against race tires.

Keith,

We haven't been to an event there in the past 2 yrs (I don't think), but, if the surface hasn't deteriorated, it's a good site & a big site (used for SCCA Pro Solo multiple times). It's not that bad of a drive from our neck of the woods &, assuming they run as usual, you don't have to be there at 8:30a. Competitive or not, practice is practice & that's a good site for it.

The first car off is at noon. They usually have the course set up around 10 or so. If you run first and work third, you are on the road by 3:30-4:00, if all goes well.

I might end up going. I registered to get an account that will enable me to preregister. I will have a look at my schedule and then decide if I have enough time to go. Thanks for the encouragement Emmie.

We're signed up We like running at VMP. If you like big open courses with real sweepers this is the place.
One unique feature of this site is we run in the parkinglot right beneath the dragstrip bleachers, so you can go to the top of the bleachers and get a birds eye view of the course and watch everyone's line from a vantage point you'll not get anywhere else except on TV. You can learn a lot comparing the line of the fast guys to the slow ones.

http://www.vmsc.org/registration/login.php
You'll have to create a "car registration account" first, it's just their way of filling in the blanks on the registration form and is only for registration. They like you to use something like Abreakey1 for the user name. Adam, you'll like the site. They run in car # order, so the number you pick will determine when you run. They usually have a midday walkthru between heats 2&3.

I am registered. Looking forward to it. I see some names I recognize from Nationals... Mike 'Jr' Johnson will be there in his new ASP z06, Mcgeorge in his mr2... should be fun.

What kind of site is it? Asphalt? sticky or no?

Pastorius, Feinberg, the Franks, myself... any other tarheelers coming out?

see you there.

It is an asphalt site with pretty good grip. There are a few bumps that keep things interesting :)

VMP is by far the best site between DC and Atlanta that is available.

Unfortunately I won't be making it out VMP this weekend. I had some unexpected family matters arise and a trip to NY this weekend is needed. Hope everyone has fun.
